This is my first ever camcorder, and it took me a while to choose which one to buy, and I'm glad I chose the Canon. it's really simple to use and the firewire connection is great for getting your footage onto a computer, even better if you have an iMac, the software is great and so easy to make a dvd! I'd recommend getting the canon pack with the case and the extra battery whilst it's cheap, the battery is the longer life one, and the case is good quality and has enough storage for tapes and all the bits you need. good stuff!

I used a Powershot A40 from 2003 until last year which was always superb. I then bought a Lumix FX50 ( £200 ) because it has a Leica lens and was small enough to fit in a pocket. Guess what? It was nowhere near as good quality as the old 2Mp Canon. Just bought this and It's a lot of camera for the money. If I adjust it down to 2Mp it's still comparable to the Lumix!Plus it doesn't suffer mad fits of colour saturation on flash photos like the Lumix did. It may be a little chunky for a pocket, but if you prefer some control over your photos as apposed to "point and shoot" this will take some beating!

Great, super-fast service from Amazon. Printer arrived yesterday.

No included driver for Mac OS X. 24 hours later, using the driver download from the Canon site, I still haven't managed to get the unit to run reliably, in fact barely at all. I'm an experienced user of this tech and haven't had to mess around, with zero progress, like this for a long, long time. This is very frustrating as the few pages I have coaxed out of the machine look very good. I'm just wondering what to do next. Canon support poor.

Update: 12th October 2008 - I have now run the printer from an Windows XP machine. The results are very good, processing / printing speeds are more than satisfactory with appropriate reliability. BUT the problems persist ... Read More:

My brother recently got a Pixma 6600D and asked me to order a set of 6 carts. Having an account with Amazon I thought these were a good price but ouch - the postage ended up MORE than the price of the cartridges.
OK, I should have checked before clicking confirm but when postage on a small package tends to be a few pounds I expected something below a fiver.
Having had a heart attack I would feel guilty passing on the postage cost in full so I shall now end up out of pocket thanks to the unclear cost.
