I've just bought this case and the Canon A460. I read that you could get spare batteries in the case, but I've tried, and the camera is such a snug fit that you might risk damaging the camera if you did. If you drop the batteries in the bottom of the case, and then insert the camera, the velcro fastener on the flap doesn't reach. Good protection for the camera, but that's all.

Bought this about a month ago to replace my old DV tape camcorder that's a few years old now. First of all the size....its small as it does not have a hard disc drive and relies on in built flash memory (16gb) that is good enough for 2hrs to capture HD quality movie or 6hrs at lesser resolution. You can capture data on a SDHC card and potentially add a further 16gb. I am one of the few without a HD TV yet but even on a standard CRT TV the HD picture is simply amazing. There is a simple one button setup if you do not want to play with individual settings but even that is pretty easy to manipulate and use. I got this as a more portable alternative to my Canon XH-A1. It's small but solid (feels very well built) and very easy to use. I'm especially pleased with the excellent viewfinder, which I often prefer to the LCD (which is itself pretty good), and the 3.5mm external mic connector (uncommon on consumer camcorders). Image quality is excellent, and there's a high degree of control. I'd give this 5 stars but for 2 shortcomings: first, I always prefer to have a complete manual control option (goes back to my still photo days). I bought this lens about eight months ago for my Canon 350D. If like me you bought the kit that comes bundled with the 18-55mm lens you'll notice there is a big gap when it comes to zoom/telephoto shots, this is a great budget tele-photo zoom lens that does what it says on the tin, and fills the gap nicely. I am an amateur photographer at best and still learning, but after using the lens for a while I was disappointed to learn that the f stop values really do make a big difference - the widest aperture you will be able to set this lens to is 4.0 at 75mm and only 5.6 at 300mm, if your really serious you need a fast lens like f/2.8, and definitely with IS (image stabilisation) - the lens is not that heavy (for me), but during a long ... I have seen the review by another Amazon user. The ml content of genuine Canon cartridges is abismal but i have found excellent compatible cartridges @ www.advantage-online.co.uk These cartridges contain approx 2 times the amount of ink and are cheaper than the Canon version. Most important they work very well and there is no difference in quality from the original. I ordered one black and one colour and received them next day with free postage.

I purchased this because of my frustration at the difficulty of using my previous point-and-shoot in sunny conditions. There aren't that many cameras around now with viewfinders. The electronic viewfinder on this one is absolutely fine, and the swivel screen is also useful on occasions. Everything else on the camera works very well. The only gripe is opening and closing the battery/SD card compartment - after a month of almost daily use I still find it temperamental. But at this price -it's a fantastic camera and you won't regret buying it.

Quite simply, this is just a well thought out and quality piece of gear. Built like a tank, great picture quality, low noise and FAST. It focuses quickly and you can crack shots off even in RAW like nobody's business. Programmable user settings and Liveview are useful additions. Might not have all the bells and whistles of Nikon's D300, but it's a much cheaper real-world tool that gives you access to an excellent range of lenses.
