Having used the suburb Audigy 2 ZS Notebook (PCMCIA PC Card) for almost a year now, I replaced it with this X-Fi model when I replaced my notebook for one supporting only Express Cards. All I can say is I wish I hadn't. I have played around with the sound settings for weeks and still cannot get it the way I want it, compared to the ZS this outputs lack-luster, almost tinny music, which as a classical fan is unacceptable. The fact that this card doesn't come with the necessary 5.1 speaker docking cables is a disgrace, what's more it will not connect with those supplied with the Audigy 2 ZS; a tactical oversight on Creatives part no-doubt. I have resorted to plugging the single (green) cable directly into my laptops on-board sound card output ... Read More:

For the price I paid for it, It was worth the money. Installed it on my XP machine first, and worked like a charm. The software worked with no major issues.

When I transferred the tuner to my Vista laptop, I was able to install the DVB Software (Run as Windows XP SP2). Drivers wise, I was able to copy the driver files from the Program Files folder that was on my XP machine. And it also works in Windows Media Center - added bonus ^^

If anyone has XP, worth getting
For vista users, you may have problems to start, but in the end it works

My friend bought one of these and it does its job as a sound card, it makes sound heh, but apart from that it isnt any better than the onboard audio solutions of today (which are actually very good, onboard sound no longer sucks like it did 5 years ago) and in actuality this isnt an x-fi card. This card has the same chip that the old audigy SE had, the audigy SE was a value card back in the day so it wasent top of the line then and is even further from it now. Creatives line over the past 10 or so years has gone from soundblaster live! --> audigy 1 --> audigy 2 --> x-fi just to give you an idea of how old the tech on this card actually is.

The £30 this card costs could be better spent elsewhere (or not at all if you have a newer onboard ... Read More:

OK, sadly my old Yamaha speakers gave out on me after 8 years of great service. After reveiwing as many speakers as I could, I decided to go for a Creative set. Creative are supposed to be the kings of audio.

I got these speakers a week ago. When they first arrived they were a piece of cake to set up. However, they wouldn't work. I tried everything to get them to work... nothing! I got a relative to look them over and he found the pins for the volume/base controller were damaged. HE fixed them for me and the controlloer plugged in fine that time. The speakers work fine! However, seems strange that the speakers are depaendant on the volume base controller to work.

Another gripe is everytime you load you PC and turn on the speakers, ... Read More:

the clip is not great for staying on a flat screen or laptop.

the software is horrible. it requires no fewer than 2 reboots (1 to install, 1 to update the install from the internet).

it messily creates loads of directories and shortcuts.

the quality of the picture is passable.

I've owned this speaker system for the best part of a year now. A musician myself, it was bought after I decided I wanted surround sound - but didn't want to pay an arm and a leg for it.

In that respect, these speakers have performed wonderfully and it's an amazing experience to sit in the centre of a 7.1 surround system and just let the music immerse you completely.

One of those remarkable things about 7.1 systems are of course - the practicalities. If you are not carefull, you'll end up propping speakers up on digerydoos and having small black cables running everywhere like some bizzare space-ant colony. That being said - the system does come with a perfectly adequet amount of stands for your convenience which work fairly well - even if you have to ... Read More:

someone said that this soundblaster 5.1 live card does not work with VIA chipsets. I have this card, and I have a VIA chipset. I have no problems whatsoever.

it is a great card for the money, but for surround sound I would go for the Audigy/2. for standard speakers or 2.1, this card works great. I bought it to replace my older soundblaster card, and it instantly made the older card sound very average.

This is decent product at a reasonable price. I upgraded from a creative Sound Blaster Live and there was an immediate noticeable difference in sound quality on both my speed link Medusa 5.1 surround sound headset and my Logitech Z5500 Speaker System.

Surround sound was executed much more subtlety than before, the sound fading across speakers rather than jumping between them. This was particularly useful in locating enemies in first person shooters such as Crysis as it really was possible to do so with pin point accuracy.
There was also a large jump in the number of sound details that were played in films and games, making both a much more intense and exciting experience. The sound quality was on par with the cinema for films if you a watching from a DVD that can output ... Read More:
