I bought this unit some months ago on the grounds of its quality pictures and wifi capability. Completely ignored the fact that Linux was not supported as hardly anyone does, but you can get most things to work with it. Firstly the quality is just as good as expected, miles better than the cheaper frames available. Then Linux - massive problem as this unit uses the Media Player 11 capabilities and I was completely stumped for several months - not too much of a problem as it reads SD cards and USB keys as well as the on-line thing. A couple of days ago I came across TwonkyMedia (their name, not mine!) and problem solved. Works absolutely brilliantly. Only 4 stars as Twonky requires licence.

5 stars is for the product only. It was all I ever wanted: * It was easy to use * sychonisation with outlook was quick and simple * a comprehensive user guide that was well-written so I could use all the features * I could type in realtime and send it straight out in outlook for distribution. Then it broke. No reason. I took it out my bag and the screen had gone. I had had it all of two weeks. I was devestated. Suddenly all the failings of buying on-line come to the fore. The supplier pda-mobiles is running the business from cyber-space. No telephone numbner, no address, no response. I have the T-mobile version of this item called MDA Vario but it's exactly the same product. The main reason why I had bought this nice piece of kit was that i got fed up of carrying around 2 pieces of hardware (i had a IPaq as well as a mobile phone). I must admit I was initially concerned that it would be too large and bulky. But in actual fact, it is only slightly thicker than my PDA. hidden in a corner is a telescopic sylus which is functional but may be too little for some people. I use my pen with the lid on which just works fine. Weighing in at 160g it's heavier than most phones but considering how much is packed in this thing it's surprising it's not heavier. I intially bought on the launch date itself the i-mate 8150 as I was long waiting for this phone to be released. I have always been a i-mate brand loyalty and it just took 2 days after taking over this phone for me to totally give up my loyalty on i-mate. Since then the 6150 too was tried with the identical problems as listed below. Either the 'Beta' trials were not properly conducted or in view of the lauch delays i-mate may have thought its best to launch with the below mentioned technical hiccups. To start with the phone heats up terribly!!! Surely, we are in the highly developed GSM age and I never knew that manufacturers would market phones thus heating up.
