I've had this product for 1.5 years and I have found it an incredible product. It transfers data quickly, I don't actually find it that noisy, if you're actually trying to listen to it then you might find it loud but I forget about it after a while. As for the flickering light, I know it's always flickering however you ignore it after a while. It's a great product and hasn't been a problem at all, never broke or crashed.

I bought this to use with my iBook as a Time Machine drive and to store my photos and iTunes music, and also because the description says it doesn't need a power supply. This is true. What it doesn't say is that the drive comes with a Y-USB connector. If the drive can't get enough power from one USB port I have to plug the other connector into the second USB port. This means I can't sync with my iPhone!! Now I've had to buy a powered USB hub to use when I want to sync my iPhone or use a mouse. Having said that I must say the drive works fine and I would have given it 5 stars but for the USB issue. I partitioned it into two volumes - one for Time Machine and the other for photos and music. I am writing this review, as although this product is awesome: it plays most of the avi files that I have - however - It worked only on one of my hard drives... For the record, it did not work on my Freecom Hard drive (Classic). However, it worked on my Seagate FreeAgent Desktop Hard Drive. This needs to be considered before the product is bought.

I can't get the drive to show in Explorer and it also comes with a 2 pin plug. I now have to go through the hassle or returning it to pixmania. I should have stayed with my WD drives. Be warned!

Buying an external hard drive for your PC is a bit like buying a tripod for your camera - its only purpose is to do the job you need it to do. For that alone this Iomega gets 5 stars, mainly because I can't think of any reason to give it any less! I bought this firstly to be able to keep all my photographs properly organised in one place rather than on discs, and backing those up is simplicity itself. Once the Iomega is plugged in it is instantly recognised, and picture files and folders can simply be dragged and dropped into it. It really is that simple to set up.
