I don't know whether it is Vista or the Canon Pixma IP4200 printer but I had nothing but problems installing this - most certainly did not work straight out of the box as the instructions suggest! Finally beat it into submission though, but not using the useless software.

There was a lot of help in chatrooms, which saved me a lot of time. After installing the IP4200 drivers for Vista, I installed the Linksys software. I went with a static IP address. From the Control panel I went to the IP4200 properties and added a standard TCP/IP port, input the IP address, clicked on LPR and typed L2 in LPR queue.

Overall more hassle than I expected but neat little box that seems fine now.

This is my 2nd Cable router from Linksys. It is virtually identical to the 4-port version BEFSR41. Like the BEFSR41. very easy to use with Virgin media ISP, I only needed to plug it in with instant shared Internet. I did not have to use the setup CD-Rom or even power anything down, as reccomended.
I have connected to it 2 PCs, a HP Laser Jet Printer, A HP Home Media server, my original BEFSR41 which in turn has a 3rd computer and an XBOX

I have just set up my BEFSX41 and ordered a Linksys USBVPN1 firewall for my laptop so I can create a VPN router-to-router. It seems these two devices are matched through chipsets to work together over VPN networks better than using IPSec software on the client.

Not that anyone explains this clearly - so you have the benefit of my rooting around the forums to find out. I also have the great Smoothwall which is really good, but I liked the neatness of this little router/firewall with VPN and its low power consumption.

I am still recovering from my shock at how easy it was to set up. Normally I dread networks and pinging to find out where my packets have gone; but this was so easy...maybe I know more than when I started and ... Read More:

Electronics : Linksys WGKPC354G Wireless-G Network Kit 54MBPS Wireless Gateway & PC Card

The kit comprises a Linksys WAG354G wireless-g ADSL modem router and a Linksys WPC54G wi-fi laptop card. The kit was £80 in PC World (early October 2006) but £49.99 in Staples. I bought it in Staples.

Instructions for setting up the router are confusing. There are two ways of doing it: using the Wizard or via the Linksys website, but the instructions don't make that clear. Setup took 2 hours, should have taken 20 minutes. The Linksys website is excellent if you want to change router settings such as the SSID (SSID is your wireless network's name that comes up when you search for wireless networks - you may have seen names such as BTVoyager123. The default SSID is "Linksys" but change it for security reasons.)
