Buyer beware. This equipment does not work properly. I bought the WAG160N so I could connect a new laptop by wireless. Needing a VoIP phone adapter to work with the modem I called Linksys to ask what I should do. They recommended a Linksys PAP2T adapter which I also bought. 1. The wireless internet connection fails frequently and constantly needs rebooting. I might just as well sit at the wired desktop. 2. The VoIP adapter normally does not work. Linksys tell me there is a known problem between the PAP2T and the WAG160N. It's sad that they didn't tell me this when I asked what to buy. 3. And its perfect for storing everything centrally if you have several pcs, I store all my photos on mine and backup everything through my home network. As the previous reviewer has said their is no issue with the Linux format of the hard drive, if you got really stuck just plug it into a pc booted off a free live linux distro to retrieve or copy all your data. It's well worth reading the manual thoroughly and a website dedicated to this unit is also very helpful if you want to install different firmware and use it as a music/video server. The only negative I would say is that it could be a little quicker. I can certainly recommend it as probably one of the best solutions at the price on the market.
