I found the Netgear WG511 so simple t0 install on my
Evesham Notepad, I just followed the instructions to the letter and it worked first time!

So far it has given first class service, I evan tried my Notepad Pc in my Shed and that's some 150 feet away from my house!

I cant fault Netgear thus given them 10 out of 10 for how simple it is to use!

Used to have a Belkin N Wireless router which cost more than this and download speed was slow and it was constantly dropping out as i am on the ground floor in an extension. Bought this router and it is the best purchase i have made signal strength is always good and it never drops out I recommend this Netgear router has solved all of my connection problems!.

this is a product that either works or it doesnt; but you only know it doesnt after hours of wasted time on the phone at your own cost. The support is incredibly bad - they must get paid by how much time they keep you on the phone. after hours of failing to solve the problem they say you will get a callback but dont. In the end they blame your wiring despite the fact other products work. One tip dont phone use the email support it costs you less and you dont waste as much time.Netgear XE102 Wall-plugged Ethernet Extender Kit

After reading some favourable reviews here, I ordered a WG602 & WG111 2.0 USB adaptor to connect (wireless) my desktop PC downstairs to my broadband connection upstairs.

It was easier than I could imagine.

I connected the WG602 to my Netgear DG834 (it connects with cable supplied into one of the 4 ethernet connections) and plugged it in to mains.

I then went downstairs, installed the software from CD on to my desk top, inserted the WG111 into my USB port.......AND THAT WAS IT.

It took me no longer than twenty minutes. I was very happy with that.

I was then surfing the internet immediately.

Cannot recommend this product highly enough.

Install is a dream and includes automatic searching for latest driver software, so long as laptop is already connected to internet. In fact installation worked fine, while laptop was still using its built in wireless adapter (at 11g speed of course).

It picks up an Excellent to Very Good connection in every room I've tried in my house; haven't tried the loos! Naturally it reports a high 270Mbps, compared with the 54Mbps of 11g, although proper download tests would probably reveal something considerably slower.

I have this connecting to D-Link's DIR-655 wireless Gigabit router and D-Link's DSL-320T modem. I can strongly recommend this combination.

On the positive side:

1. Easy to setup.
2. Works well with TCP data such as web browsing (than can cope with lost packets).

On the negative side:

1. Looses UDP packets (don't expect DHCP to work reliably acorss powerline equipment).
2. Doesn't work with other netgear products like the netgear EVA700. (remote services drop in and out of sync).
3. Known problems (acknowledged by netgear) but with no fix available to download from site. (XBOX 360 and windows media centre issues).
4. Tech support like all netgear product is really dreadful, with long delays and a foreign call centre with poorly trained technical staff who's definition of something working is "are the lights on".
5. No acknowledgement ... Read More:

Looking to extend you're wireless coverage at home? I was running a Netgear wireless DG834PN Rangemax MIMO-G router in a 3 storey victorian house. Coverage was good on the ground floor but pretty weak on the top floor (about 1 bar out of 5 but occasionally zero). Looked into options: bigger antena (aparently pretty useless); run ethernet cable to an access point on the top floor; Netgear Powerline range extender (but was unsure about wiring/circuits at home); and using TWO access points. We went for the last option and now have 4 out of 5 reception on the top floor, into the garden and down the street!

The first access point is connected to the router by a short ethernet cable. Access point 2 is plugged into the mains on the first floor, and connects by wirless ... Read More:

Who knows whether I'm typical but so far in the evolution of wifi in my house we have gone through a Dell 1520 (OK, slow, 802.11b) then on to a much-hyped Belkin F5D9230 G+MIMO job (utterly, utterly unreliable, unsupported, nearly caused an embolism every time it had spontaneous spasm.
So in total frustration I took a good look at the market and bought this.
I'm jolly pleased I did. It worked straight out of the box months ago and it has never once needed restarting - a total success in my book. Rock solid performance, reasonable range, good rane of encryption, all the options you might need for a medium size domestic network. BTW it's a good idea to disable the ICMP response - it is enabled in the default settings. And do please change the network name, change ... Read More:

easy to set up, has worked flawlessly,
I have really pushed this unit to see if I could trip it up, I have 4 computers connected, some uploading some downloading a doesen things at once, podcasts, movies etc at 10mbs (virgin cable) whilst uploading to my Apple TV at 30mbs etc, this unit handles a huge amount of data in both directions without a hitch,

now contrast this with the Linksys BEFSR41 which the Netgear is replacing, forever dropping packets, freezing, needing to be re-set,

so Zero stars for the Linksys ;(

and 5 stars for the Netgear, and all for £20!

Highly recommended

As the other review says, you really cant go wrong with these blue metal units. Much nicer than the plastic Tupperware boxes you get nowadays. This is good solid little piece of kit, just like the larger blue metal versions. This is a great little hub if you want to add a few extra wired computers to your broadband hub. Or perhaps you want to do a bit of multi player gaming. I have a Mac, PC, and my freeview box, all going through this and into my BT home hub. Remember that if used to connect to a broadband router, then you need to use one of the 5 ports for that. Led's on each port show whats going on, giving a reassuring flash. About the size of a deck of cards and powered by a small plug in adapter. Good clear instructions, and a name you can trust.

Industrial quality, ... Read More:
