See the following review which I think would be usefull/apply for most people.

For most households there are 2 ring mains (upstairs plugs and downstairs plugs) This product works really well if you want to network via EOP using one ring main (ie downstairs only or upstairs only). You will know if you have 2 ring mains in your house by the circuit breaker box/fuse box (ie you can switch power off independantly to different parts of your house))

The problems comes when you want to network across the 2 ring mains - expect speeds of up to 4mbps if you do. this would be enough for data access only - not good for streaming HD or DVD. I have had to get a refund for these ... Read More:

I feel compelled to write a review (there is a first time for everything). I bought the WPN311 because I have a Netgear DG834PN RangeMax wireless router which has been very good - I wanted to add wireless functionality to my rather old Dell desktop and thought I might have compatibility issues if I went with another wireless PCI provider. I read the reviews for the WPN311 (noting the varied comments about the accompanying software - not all favourable). It arrived. I installed it and during the process I flipped a coin and opted to use the accompanying Netgear software (driver and management programme). Bad move - it worked fine for a few weeks and then for no reason refused to connect to the router, the software crashed continuously and then ... Read More:

Keep clear of this adaptor unless you want trouble, all it has caused is my computer to freeze and not start properly at start up, does not even find the signal even when I am using a wireless Netgear router modem. Google this adaptor and look into forums there are alot of disgruntled people out their.

I went out on a bit of a limb here when buying this card. I naturally assumed that it would work with Microsoft's Windows Home Server without checking first. I was wrong. Netgear, it would seem, don't really want to market this card at homer server enthusiast. They have not released any drivers.

So I had the thought to check if it had any Server 2003 drivers. Nope, none. I've read in other reviews that this card will not work with Windows Home Server, but I'm happy to report that that is not the case! This product DOES work with Windows Home Server. But, as stated, for some unknown reason Netgear don't want to give us the drivers to make it so.

From what I can determine the GA311 uses the Realtek RTL8169 chipset. Luckily ... Read More:

I bought this product as my old Netgear PC card was only getting a 'low' or 'very low' signal and if left on for a long time, the LED would stop blinking and I couldn't get into the internet at all. I'd have to log off and leave it for a couple of hours. I downloaded the new software from the CD and all seemed well. I connected to our network using the Netgear Smart Wizard and put in the password, but it would not let me 'validate' the settings and, when I turned the computer off and on again, they were lost, so I had to click on the network and put in the password again. We have had so much hassle with our network recently and the Netgear helpline was less than helpful so I have to admit that I did not even bother phoning them for a solution. Instead ... Read More:

Netgear provided me with a pair of these products after I complained about the equivalent USB wireless adapters (WN121T). I had bought 2 of the latter and they interferred with the sound on my PCs. On its website Netgear has since admitted this was a problem with the WN121T. Hurrah!

The WN311B functions in the same way as the WN121T, except you have to slot it into a spare PCI socket inside the PC, which is a bit of a nuisance. Of the 2 examples supplied to me by Netgear, one of them malfunctioned within a few weeks of installation. The computer simply locked up after a few minutes and would only respond to power-off at the mains. This would happen repeatedly until I physically removed or disabled the WN311B. Netgear, to its credit, replaced ... Read More:

The idea of having a small, network attached storage device sounded very appealing when I looked for something to use with my laptop. I didn't want to attach any cables to my laptop so this seemed ideal as I could connect to it wirelessly.

It seemed okay at first, the software to manage it is very average and it does feel very slow to read/write to. I thought I could live with this until the day it chewed up my data. A partition is now read as a FAT32 partition by Windows, contains empty files (zero length) that are actually folder names from a different partition and it shows as having 61GB used yet the ten or so files visible on the disk are zero bytes in length. It seems to me the partition table has failed.

Had I have looked ... Read More:
