Okay so i have tried six or seven Netgear products. Most have been fine, set up easily and then worked quietly without fuss. Two haven't. The 834GT router and this, the PS101 print server.

The PS101 is easy to install physically. And as I was using a netgear router I expected the next bit to be easy. Boy was I disappointed.

But configuring of the system is a real problem, at least with my version of XP Pro SP2. The server set up wouldn't let me use automatic setting of IP address (even though this is the recommended route in the netgear literature. But I could ping the PS101, and also talk to it through the web interface, and it told me it was attached to the correct printer, so so far so good

This router is not up to the normal standard of Netgear devices. It appears to have been rushed to market before the firmware was ready. Even the latest firmware update is bug ridden. Expect problems with simultaneous use of wireless g and n and also UPnP.

I started using this phone three days ago and already I've had a host of major problems - poor connectivity even when very close to the router, very poor reception on the phone (echoing and patchy reception), inability to download product updates using the CD provided, and rapid heating up of the phone during calls. I downloaded a software update from the Netgear website as I could not access it from the CD provided, and after installing the update the phone now constantly restarts on its own just after connecting to the wireless network, so I am unable to use it. UTTER RUBBISH!! DO NOT BUY UNLESS YOU ENJOY THROWING YOUR MONEY AWAY! SEEKING TO RETURN PRODUCT.

All the manufacturers promise 270Mbps, thats Mega bits per second. Most LAN cards that have a cable are 100Mbps.

Reading reviews and knowing that the wireless 'n' wasn't a standard I bought a Netgear router and a D-link USB receiver because they had the same components inside which meant they should be compatible.

My test was to play a DVD:-

1) First over a cable connected to the router at 100Mbs. The DVD played perfectly at a rate or 9 Mbps.

2) Over wireless 270Mbps, Netgear to D-link, same chipset. DVD wouldn't play and testing with a single very large file showed the connection was only 7.3 Mbps. And that was the router and device next to each other.

3) In the end I bought a Netgear ... Read More:
