This little beauty turned up about 2 weeks ago and i must say Iam really chuffed with it! I was looking for something that would charge my ipod and sony erricson phone on the move as I am barely at home or near a mains socket! The power monkey fits the bill perfectly and works really well. i was amazed how long its lasts before having to re-charge it and it comes with every adpater under the sun! You can even charge it via USB! Point to note: it says on the box that and the ipod USB lead (the lead that comes with the ipod) is required to charge an ipod but i used an adapter included in the box that looks like one and it works perfectly! Been using it to charge up some electronic items I brought back from the US and it does the job fine (certainly costs a lot less than if I'd bought them over here, but that's another thing). Agree with the comments that it weighs a ton, but it's not really a problem - though can't comment on the power issues some have had as I've only been using low current devices.

I have recently upgraded to the powermonkey explorer. It is a disaster. I keep it in my pocket until I need it Unfortunately it is always drained when I need it. Why ? I think it is because the on-off button is of the press type which gets switched on whenever I put something in my pocket. This does not occur with the old powermonkey as its on off button is a slider switch. So I have binned my new powermonkey explorer and now use my old powermonkey which gives no problems. So do not upgrade!

Despite some negative reviews I decided to purchase it because of the price. I did not have any high expectations but I was pleasantly surprised when I used it. It works like a charm. I plugged in my wii and xbox360 turned them on at the same time, wii running brawl at 480p, xbox360 running oblivion at 720p, there were no artifacts on my TV (sony bravia 37 inch), colors are still the same bright and clear. I don't know why people had problems with it, but my experience was very positive.

I got one of these for Christmas and have been using it now for 7 weeks. My main reason for getting one was the "eco" reason - to use the solar charger to charge my phone and MP3 player. I had a lot of problems initially - when I used to try to charge one of two Nokia phones I have the device would switch off. The customer service people at Powermonkey were great though - and I got a new one sent out and have had no such problems. I leave the power monkey charging by day on a south facing window sill. Even in rainy England during the winter months I find that I have enough power to can recharge my phone every 2 or 3 days. So I don't expect to ever have to charge my phone from the mains again. As I was in America it would have been to hard to send back for replacement so I just threw it away. It is possible it may have been damaged when it was delivered to me or when I was in transit but a product that is intended for travelers should be built with that in mind.
