Electronics : Powermonkey Explorer - Emergency Charger For All Your Needs!
I have previously owned a single panel solar charger and it was garbage, the only think it would charge were my Bluetooth headphones.

This item however has charged my Nokia N95, Creative Zen Extra MP3 player, and two types of bluetooth headphone, all on one charge!

If there's no sun you can plug it in to charge it up before you go out, and it will keep the power in reserve for you.

My only quibble is I wish there was a definitive list of what it will and won't charge, as for instance it doesn't seem to want to power my Panasonic FZ28 camera, and I don't know if they make an adaptor for my TZ5 either, but that's my fault for not checking before I bought it.

At the end of the day, the product ... Read More:

I bought this from Amazon. It works well. I use it to play MP3 sound downloaded onto my Palm handheld. The sound quality is good, and loud enough for me. The front of the speakers is a bit exposed and I will have to take care when lugging them round in my rucksack. The bag is not really good enough and a bit of stiff card should do the trick. In the house this is not a problem. Apart from that, fine.

I did a bit of research online before buying a solar charger and I am happy that I got a PowerMonkey. I used it while camping and it worked brilliantly. The different adaptor/connections all worked. The only disappointment was not having an adaptor for my Nintendo DS (which was listed as included - but wasn't). However this wasnt a big issue as the device itself worked really well. I would recommend it. It seems crazy to not have one - FREE power from the sun!!!

I have been looking around for a portable speaker system for a while, considering the streetparty and various other makes. My first impressions were just how small the unit is, I was worried that it wouldn't measure up in the sound department. I don't own an ipod and have been using my little 1 gb sony player and the results are great, sound is crisp and clear and the volume from such small speakers is amazing. I am no audio expert but wow! Ok these are more expensive but the extra price is really worth it. The only slight problem is that it doesn't come with a power supply just a usb lead for power from a computer, but this is small omission for a great little package.

The PowerMonkey Explorer is probably the most comprehensive package for the gadget freak after more power on the move. The basic unit is a 2200mAh lithium battery with a flylead terminated with a connector that fits most older Nokia devices (the ~2mm connector). A wide range of adaptors provide connectivity to most handheld devices, although for many the USB connector will be the most useful (it would have been nice to have a female USB connector on the battery pack itself).

The charger provided is tiny and comes with clip-on plugs for UK, US, EU and Aus/NZ. A small velcro fixing bag is provided for your favourite connectors (I guess most users will only need a few). The whole kit fits into the provided zip-up case but for travelling ... Read More:

Bought this at Heathrow to recharge my Tom Tom sat nav as I'd left the charger in the car. Thought it would at least do something helpful. No chance! Sunny and hot all week in Ireland in July. It took a full week to recharge the Tom Tom. After a 3 hour car journey there wasn't enough power for it to even start up. Considering returning it to Dixons on the basis it doesn't comply with the Sale of Goods Act.

Fantastic, the best bit is the female usb connection. I charged on a Yacht for 1 month, my ipod countless times, yes ok i went through batteries like rounds on a machine gun. but you can get batteries anywhere, and per 2 AAs i could charge my ipod 60g 2 times, and it is very very quick at charging.

When i go travelling, which is quite often, i used to take along 3 or four chargers for iPod, camera, phone, PSP. All of which takes up a fair bit of space but after buying the powerchimp (what a terrible name)there is no need. Really good bit of kit, well made and comes with loads of different adaptors. Highly recomended.

I bought this to charge my iPhone 3G after trying several other solar chargers. This was the only one that worked. I bought the Solio charger and had to take it back as it didn't work on the iPhone, but worked on the iPod and took ages charging. The Powermonkey worked on my iPhone and charged it as quickly as a mains charger. I am very impressed with this device and the attachements are up to date and fit most electrical devices (although not a Nintendo DS to my son's dismay).
I often go away where there's no electricity (camping, etc) and desperately needed a device to charge my phone. Thankfully, I've found one!

I bought this item for an African safari holiday mainly for the USB charger facility, so that I could charge my phone and Sony MP3 player. Plug adaptor is great and I have used it many countries with no problems. USB charger is a waste of space. It would not charge my MP3 player or my phone. In fact I can not find anything it will charge!
