I've now owned this drive for almost a year - mainly for media storage and to occasionally back up my own documents. The drive is elegant and sits neatly on the end of a desk, and looks rather sleek. It is quiet at all times, even when being scanned or during transfers. Transfers themselves are quick and reliable. It is also easy to set up - I was up and running with it within minutes.

Small, quiet and really portable drive. Average speed 25 MB/s is not impressive comparing to 7200rpm 3.5 models but this drive is designed for easy access and mobility- not for speed! 5 years limited warranty included. 2 USB ports required!

So here goes , 1. Amazon delivered this item 2 days earlier than stated! The cheek of them free delivery and fast too! Delivered by Royal Mail no problems there either. 2. I have had a Seagate Freeagent Desktop 500gb since September without problems(touch wood) and due to this decided to go Seagate again with the 5 year warranty as insurance. The transfer rates are much quicker, the drive took minutes to set up on my PC. I am currently copying 200gb of video onto the drive with an estimated time of 2hours 35minutes. This drive is much faster and better looking than the 500gb so I hope it performs as well!

Design wise, this is a sleek looking piece of hardware that fits in nicely on a desktop. As to the company claim that it is no bigger than a stapler with its vertical footprint, I can only presume that they have rather large staplers. That aside though, the single orange light that flashes as though the device was breathing is attractive but not distracting when watching movies ect. I am running OS X 10.4.11 and it works perfectly, their installer is useless however. After waiting for it to run and configure my device properly (yawn) and after rebooting my drive was recognised but not writable. After trawling their tech support website they said to use Disk Utility to reformat the disk (my next port of ... Read More:

It works - your back ups there OK - but make sure you have stacked everything as you want it before you start to transfer. That was my initial mistake.
