I bought a Sony 8GB Micro Vault, as it looks quite solid in the pictures and I have always found Sony products to be well constructed. However, when I received the product (and no complaints for the service from Moreflash - ordered late Friday evening and arrived early the next Tuesday) I found that it feels very cheap and fragile. In fact it feels more like a cheap plastic toy from a fairground than something that I will be entrusting to carry my documents around on. I guess that if it lasts for a couple of years (which I doubt) then I should not really complain, as this is what I bought it to do, but these days I expect my hardware items to be well made and aesthetically pleasing and not cheap and tacky (Apple versus Chad Valley). I have had mine for almost two years now. HD corruption wihin a week of buying did not impress, but Sony had it back to me in three days! Now the DVD doesn't work but since I don't really use that it is no great problem. I think that it's a software prob as the CD works. I bought it because it is small, light, powerful, and does just about everything I need. I have an Acer that needs a truck to carry around (although totally dependable and probably better value for money) but the Sony goes everywhere with me and is just brilliant. I am typing this in my lounge watching TV on a Friday niight and still in touch with everything. If portabiliy and flexibility are what you need, and you would feel stupid with a TV on your lap ...
