I bought my system from Dixons on line because, at that time, they had the best price. The price at Amazon has come down now so, with free delivery, Amazon is your best place to buy. My old CD player had started to 'slip' so I expected to get a new CD player with a 3 CD changer and DAB radio, with a USB port for playing MP3s. Easy - so I thought. What a surprise to discover that such a system no longer existed. I could have bought all of the above without the 3 CD changer, but that wasn't what I wanted. Spent weeks trying to decide which model to buy. My priorities included a) Quiet b) Easy to Use c) Easy to Install d) Compatible with my existing equipment (includes Epson Projector, LG Cinema Sound, Sharp LCD. It came up trumps in all requirements. My wife could not get on with my previous LG DVD recorder...far too complicated, but within 30 mins was recording to HDD quite merrily. The manual looks daunting, but to be up and running you need about 3 pages only. The manual is available on-line at Sony's site, so I got everything planned before it arrived. It's a good microphone as it looks great & it is light weight compared to the Shure PG48 or the JHS microphone. One problem that dissapointed me with Sony is that it picksup superbly clear BUT! I found it only did this for a few days then once it passed it starts to become very muffled & unclear like those cheap poundshop microphones but all round it's ok!

This is our first LCD TV, so I'm no expert. The picture quality from freeview and DVD is fantastic. Setup was virtually automatic, and so far the default picture settings have been fine. I've read some other reviews which state sound is the one weaker area with this set, but it seems OK to me, not amazing but fine. The one thing I don't like is the EPG doesn't have a picture insert. Very pleased with this purchase.

The functions on this unit are great. It has two alarm settings (one for during the week and one for weekends) which is great. The sound quality for the CD player is fine. The setting up was easy thanks to the decent instructions. BUT - I can't use it. There is a low hum emitted at all times by the unit (nothing to do with the CD Player) and because I want it on the bedside table (near my head) it keeps me awake. I have been onto Sony but they are not helpful, advising me to take it to a Service Centre - I suppose it is unlucky that there are none near me. So not a great product unless you are a heavy sleeper.

Although it had reasonable sound to begin with, the left earphone gradually cut out as the wire had somehow broken on the adapter part of the headphones. Incredibly flimsy and eventually all sound cut off. Needs better build. DO NOT BUY.
