No criticism of Amazon. TomTom ? That's another matter. The unit works fine - until you connect to TomTom Home. The updates will render your unit an expensive paperweight. I can't recommend an alternative, but I emplore you to avoid this over-priced piece of junk. Steve

I bought this case as it was recommended by Amazon as a case for the TomTom One v4. However, this is not so. This case doesn't hold the TomTom One with its fold up mount. There is an alternative case that holds both which is also sold by Amazon. It's beyond me why they recommend this case with the v4. Maybe they have a surplus supply they're trying to get rid of! I now have to order the correct case and have the inconvenience of returning the case, take it to the Post Office and organise a refund which I won't get until Amazon receive the case back, which can take up to 30 days! Sort it out Amazon!

What a disappointment, yes it looks good and the zip is tight which is a real problem because the zip traveller is made of such cheap metal that whenever you put the slightest pressure on it to close the zip, the zip tag invariably comes away in your hand. I have now returned my third case and will be buying no more. I am sure for just a few more pence spent on production costs it would be worth it, but for this money i want my zip to stay on the case not come off in my hand. Not recommended unless you really must keep tom toms profits high.

I had (and still have) a GO 700 but as the windscreen mount was on it's last legs (having been glued back together a few months ago) and the maps outdated I decided to upgrade to a 730T instead of buying a new mount and maps. It's a decision I don't regret especially as I paid less than £220 thanks to accumulated Amazon vouchers. It is certainly superior to the GO 700 and the additional features - lane guidance, Q route, MP3 facility etc are all very useful. The only feature I haven't used yet is the RDS traffic which I believe can be quite patchy but this is not unique to TomTom. GPS reception is superb, locating my position almost instantly. I bought the TomTom a week ago and used it immediately for 1000 miles or so to Brittany. Everything worked perfectly 'straight from the box'. If we did take a wrong turning, it was quickly picked up and we were re-routed. The only time it became rather confused was at a new shopping mall in France where there were no roads marked. We were impressed with the routing to hotels, which often involved complicated one-way streets. We were a little surprised that not all of the 'safety' cameras in the variable speed limit section of the M25 near Heathrow, were marked.

Sat Nav `Points of Interest' damaging our tourist trade. I have just helped a friend set up the very latest model of `Tom Tom Go 530' navigator, am impressed by its navigation ability, it locks onto the sats much quicker than my Sony unit, but underwhelmed by its quoted points of local interest. At Morecambe, according to TomTom, the distance to the beach is 20 miles, and the nearest library 187 away miles. Swimming pools are over 140 miles away, one of the nearest being in Dublin. If you select this it will plot you a route, and obligingly gives the ferry company's telephone numbers! Blackpool fares no better. Having been a bit of a sceptic about satnavs - after all, what's so difficult about reading a map(!) - I borrowed this from a friend to navigate around London and am a convert. It just makes driving (even in heavy congestion) so much more bearable when you're not having to squint at road signs to check you've not missed the turn. In fact, it's been an absolute revelation. Having not tried any of the competition I'm not best placed to give comparisons, but this did all I required it to do very impressively - so much so that Jane became one of the family - albeit one who's a little bit humourless if very forgiving... no tantrums if you do take a wrong turn, she just calmly takes a deep breath, counts to ten, and recalculates.
