Bought this model from Amazon in May 08, it started to lock up pretty soon after this. Would put it on charge and it would not start up, have only used it for a couple of journeys. Contacted Tomtom and they arranged for it to be sent back for repair. It is great when it works, which has not been to often. Just got it back from Tomtom and the report said it had replaced the main board. When I switched it on and reset my settings , I had an error message appear ? Anyway set it all up and then I noticed it had become a 920 T on splash screens and on a welcome screen, contacted tomtom and spoke to a woman, who had a suspicous American accent, probably a call centre in Bombay. Stay Away from this product. 1] The cable is short. 2] After 3 months, the internal wires must have loosened because now it won't charge my TomTom (it works with other chargers). The windscreen holder is fine.

Despite loads of software failings "Even microsoft have software problems" said one of the tom tom customer care team, I do like the GO520. The problems I have encountered; The voice recognition locks out regularly and the only way to clear the problem is to reset the Tom tom. When it actually works it works well. The battery doesn't last very long so on journeys more than an hour the voices distort because of battery drain. Plug it in I hear you say, the problem is I like my sat nav on the right side because I find it obstructs my view too much in the centre. always thought I could do better than a sat nav, then we borrowerd one from a friend and have since ordered a Tom Tom Xl classic , must say it is brilliant, no stress on a long journey now. Let it do all the work for you. Have yet do a really long journey, somewhere that I do not know where I am going, but we will see.

I bought this case and power adapter for my new TomTom ONE v4 Western Europe. The case is very snug (the zip only just zips up), there is no room for the car charger or other accessories which is a shame. Having said that, I think it will do a good job in protecting the TomTom and will make it much easier to chuck it in a bag without worry. Overall, not great value for money, the materials are not great. Probably best to look at the other cases available for TomTom devices.

Poor poor item. My other half has the standard Tom Tom device and I actually prefer that. Raging about mine this evening as I had sat in a queue for forty minutes before it told me there was a problem - despite tapping my traffic column for updates numerous times. It then tried to direct me through town! A usual forty minute journey took two hours. It does not pick up usual traffic hotspots on my various journeys home either. I also find it cannot calculate a useful alternative route,and I am relying on my own knowledge, or that thing they call 'a map'. I bought the thing for home visits in my job but it doesn't seem to to be able to find its way out of the car park. So no, I don't like it.

Great product, but i was expecting it to have an expansion slot..(ie SD memory slot) It only came with 1 GB internal memory which is full up with the West Europe maps, So stuck if travelling around West and East Europe.. Mine did have an option to cancel a route...

I bought this product in Spain, driving back to Ireland through France. The quality of the map in Spain and France is very good. I had several customer meetings both in Madrid and Paris suburbs and the device got me there every time in the time scale predicted. The traffic camera alerts were useful and accurate. Once I got back to Ireland, I found the device to be pretty good, but not as accurate detail as in Continental Europe. There are no traffic camera alerts as far as I can tell. I was looking to plan a trip to Northern Ireland and there are some details lacking on the map, since I could not find the place names. This is, I think, the difference between getting the UK & ROI map and the Western Europe Map. If you're looking for such detail ... Read More:

Quick and clear route planning, the wide touch screen is very good. Have used it now for several journeys in Scotland and England and very impressed. The supplied female voice is very clear with good warnings of upcoming junctions. I've used the Go 730 on the M1, M4, M8, M9, M25 and certainly appreciated this model's upgraded junction advice. I was quite happy to use the 730 without seeing the screen, just listening to the instructions, which were loud enough to hear over road/engine noise, but the kids volume had to be turned down! If you take a wrong turn (or your local knowledge is better) it asks you to turn around. Should you ignore it, it very quickly comes up with route correction, updating distances and arrival time.
