This mount is superior to the original because it does actually adhere to the windscreen or to the alternative dashboard mounting disc. However because it is mounted on a flexible arm it vibrates annoyingly (making it hard to read) on all but the smoothest roads. Besides, I think it is totally wrong that TomTom continue to sell a product that has an inadequate mount and then expect you to pay £15.25 (which is cheapest from Amazon by the way, normally £19.99)for an alternative. My solution will be to look round at other makes of sat-nav when I replace;this is agreat pity because the product itself is a good one.

I was looking for an easy to use and accurate sat nav device and this TomTom fulfils the criteria. User interfaces are very easy to use and the lag between where the TomTom thinks you are and reality is minimal. Probably don't use all the flashy features but basic stuff like setting favourite addresses, speed cameras and changing the speaking voice are great. Nice big screen as well which made me choose over the more budget models. Items that stop a score 5 are 1) the battery is rubbish, barely an hour or two and as a result now never use without the car charger plugged in in case battery dies whilst driving at a key turning, and 2) can take a little while to find the signal when you first fire up (but not as bad as some friend's ... This is an excellent product, and makes my life a lot easier. I have been up and down the country with the help of my TomTom. The earpiece can be heard loud and clear, even at moderate speed and with earplugs in (of course, most of the time, instructions are being read when you're slow or slowing). My only complaints: 1) Maps are occasionally out a bit, if the roads have changed recently. This can be annoying if not dangerous. Normally, common sense steps in and you can navigate around the problem, following which the TomTom will re-calculate the route for you; but there are times when you're simply "stuck". Roadworks and new roundabouts are my favourites. 2) The TomTom doesn't adapt very well for street navigation. ... Read More:

This item is quite simply not fit for purpose. I bought it in order to attach to the dashboard of my Focus - not the flattest dashboard in the world, granted, but I figured that with a good suction cup and a lock it might work. Apparently not - this refused flat out to attach to anything at all inside the car except the windscreen, which is what I wanted to avoid (the tell-tale rings on the windscreen being a beacon to all would-be thieves and vandals). It doesn't hold it's suction well either - on the completely flat desk at work it won't stay attached for more than a few seconds before inexplicably falling over (even when there's no sat nav on it). I had the TomTom Europe for almost 7 month and its the best thing that I have ever bought.So far no problem with it at all, started using it straight from the Box.Yes it didn't come with SD card at first and I was a bit worried but latter I learned all units are built in.Its great, I can go anywhere now with out asking.I want to rate it 4 becuase when I tried to stick it to the windscreen sometimes it keeps coming off apart from that GREAT!!!!

I recently purchase a Go520 and got the iPod cable with it, the ability to listen to music via the SatNav unit was a great benefit. Before the directions would get drowned out by my music, now the music fades and the directions are crystal clear. In addition I can control my iPod via the TomTom and have both units provide sound via my in car radio. A perfect addition for anybody who likes to listen to music whilst travelling.

I was worried about buying this given the bad press the original receiver got for poor reception, however I needed the functionality and this is, after all, the 2008 model. I initially thought I had made a mistake because the Amazon site does not list my 720 as supported and initially the machine did not recognise the antenna. However I updated the software to 8.1 and lo and behold it did work and I got a signal from inside my living room. Several traffic incidents were identified and it seems to work perfectly with no reception issues. I have yet to try it in anger in my car but it all looks like it should work well. I will try and update this review in a while after I have got some experience.
