It does all that it promises. I know nothing of Sky + or whatever, so can't compare its recording function for ease-of-use. I've found it all easy to use so far. It's very quick and simple to set it to record to HDD a program by just choosing it from the daily listings on the Freeview menu. However, as I think someone has pointed out on a forum here, I'm very surprised there's no way to record (to any format, VHS, HDD or DVD) one channel and watch a different channel at the same time. Yes, while recording TV you can watch an already-recorded medium (on VHS, HDD or DVD), but nothing live. This is especially odd as this machine boasts two TV tuners, one digital, one analogue. Was looking for a DVD player to replace a nasty cheapo Currys one that refused to play burnt DVD's, ended up buying this Tosh SD270 and i have to say its a great little player. I ordered this item on Tuesday and received it by 10am Saturday. I love it!! The picture comes into its own when playing a DVD. Freeview is quite clear too. Sky seems a bit grainy, I think I'll get SKY HD. I can't wait to see the 1080p go into action. Saving up for a Panasonic DMP35 BD Blu Ray Player. As usual with Amazon, great delivery, ordered on Sunday night, delivered 10am Tues.Free 1 months trail of Amazon prime) Set was really easy. Great picture quality and sound. My only reason for not giving it 5 stars is that it takes a while to switch channels(up to 12 secs from pushing the button to the channel selected having an info free screen). This is my first flat screen lcd tv so I emailed Toshiba, they replied within a couple of hours saying this was normal. It's a bit of a pain when channel hoppping but I can live with that.

Firstly, as a previous reviewer said, this is a great looking TV. I checked it out in the flesh before I placed my order via Amazon and I was excited about it being delivered. Unfortunately, that is where the excitement ended. Upon arrival I attached the tv effortlessly to the wall mount that I had purchased along with it. Fitting the wall mount was simple and effective and I was up and running in no time. Within seconds of turning it on however I noticed that there was a large luminous pair of "dead" pixels just to the left of the centre of the screen. First - excellent delivery. Ordered Friday, delivered Monday morning. First impressions are excellent. Video quality is super - indoors as well as outside, but I need to try low light. And still photos are good as well. I am using HD video and 5mpixels - the default settings. The 3x optical zoom works smoothly - even while filming (despite other reviews) Playback through my 1080p LCD was super, using the supplied composite video cable. The little remote control made this easy to manage and can make the thing record and take stills as well - handy if mounted on a tripod. we bought this after seeing one in our room during a hotel break. and we are extremely happy with the one we bought. The picture quality is superb, instalation straightforward, so much so i just bought the 37inch equivalent( helped by the fact that there were bargain offers on the marketplace this week) any negatives? well it was troublesome getting hold of some technical details( e.g can you wall mount and how wide is it? as they are sparse on the Amazon site) However go to the Currys online shop and you can download 4-5 pages!! of details. By the way, you can wall mount and the correct bracket is the PLB103S: which was £80 cheaper than the accessory offered by Amazon, and very robust.

I have the toshiba regza tv hooked up to this with a hdmi cable and we have none of the above problems, the remote is a bit cheap looking but our tv remote operates it anyway as they a re a matched set, we got this to replace our phillips upscaling div x dvd player which went bang just outside the guaruntee but this player makes me glad it did the sound and picture quality are way and above what I already thought was brilliant, the sound and picture quality are so good! would recommend to everyone Wow! I will keep this updated if we do have any problems and will update if it doesnt last that long if I dont update assume its still working and still well pleased, but weve never had any trouble with toshiba before they go on until they are outdated in my experience ... Toshiba Camileo Pro Camcorder i bought this for my sister as a christmas present so she could film her three kids but i was dissapointed with the picture quality, and the sound in non existent. so dissapointed ive now got to send it back and look for another one. :-(

I have an 2 year old 42" 1024 x 768 plasma screen. After alot of research I bought this TV for 3 main reasons, 1. I wanted the 1080p resolution for gaming and bluray 2. I wanted to reduce my electricity bill, this TV is rated at 203w compared to my plasma's 300w and 3. It is cheap At first I was very pleased with my purchase, the set is so light, which makes moving it around for one person a breeze, lcd's ability to produce good black colouring has improved vastly over the years to an excellent quality.... Sky HD, DVD's, Bluray, and xbox 360 gaming all looked great and I wasnt particularly aware of any motion blurring that LCD's are supposed to suffer from.
