There's really not much you can say about a hard drive system, other than it works! I've got about 8 Western Digital MyBook products now, and they are each flawless.

Setup cannot be simpler -- take it out of the box, and plug it in. The drives ship pre-formated, and anyone spending £300+ on a piece of equipment will know how to set it up for their requirements. I'm using mine as a media storage unit for movies, photos and music in a RAID1, so 1TB of data is mirrored on two physical drives.

I only wish larger drives existed. But for now, it's the best out there! Strongly recommended!!

A previous reviewer speaks of an issue with this unit going to sleep and causing all sorts of problems. I just wanted to point out that I've been using my MyBook for video editing and it's working 100% perfectly. I've actually taken it to San Francisco in my suitcase (wrapped in some tshirts to protect it!) and it worked fine.

A super purchase. So much so I'm about to buy another one.

I was a bit impulsive when buying this. Usually I read a whole lot of forums before purchasing. I bought this because I have a USB2 MyBook which has been brilliant.

This NAS version is another story. I bought this drive to stream VOB files to my media player. But the speed of the drive is too slow for streaming DVD's. Reading more about this drive on the forums shows that the max speed is at about 4MB/sec. 4MB/sec! What is the point of a advertising this drive as a gigabit networked drive if it only does 4MB/sec. Delving into this, and reading about other NAS drives, such as the Linksys 100MB NAS drive, I've realized that all of the reasonably priced NAS drives average at about this speed due to onboard processor limitations. ... 48.Western Digital Passport Carrying Case from: Western Digital

Electronics : Western Digital Passport Carrying Case

This WD Passport carry case is, unsurprisingly, a perfect fit for my WD Passport drive. I had considered buying the Case Logic one but several reviews stated that it was larger than the [newer, smaller] drives and so the drive could move about a bit inside the case. Not with this one, the drive is held very snugly by the overall package + an elastic strap (I'm still amazed how small it is) and there's room for the USB cable as well.

I thought the 7 pounds postage from Lizard was a bit steep but I'm very glad I shelled out a bit more and got this case - I can chuck the drive in my rucksack with no worries about it getting damaged.

Just a quick review, I purchased this to upgrade the hard drive in my 60gb PS3. It took about five minutes to fit and works perfectly. Instead of backing up my whole hard drive prior to the installation I merely copied my save games onto a memory card. Once I had fitted the replacement hard drive I simply copied the game data back and installed the games from the disks. Really easy and this hard drive works a treat, noticeably faster than the original hard drive (a seagate for info) when installing games such as Metal Gear Solid and Devil May Cry. No heat or performance issues. The PS Store keeps a back up of your downloads/purchases, which I simply re installed leaving my system running over night. I did encounter one problem though, for some reason Gran ... Read More:
