Nice bit of kit this. My Northbridge chipset fan was noisy when new but my PC is now 3 years old and the fan sounds like soneone drilling. The installation does require you to extract the motherboard to pinch out the existing pins which attach the Northbridge fan but once these are out it's pretty simple to line up and attach the brackets and pins for the new cooler. It comes with thermal paste but you'll need to clean up the old paste on the Northbridge first. Methanol is a great solvent for this. Positioning the cooler can be a bit tricky if you already have a large cooling fan for you CPU but the asymmetric vane arrangement and adjustable brackets permit you to twist the cooler round to fit it in snug against the CPU cooler vanes. I have an overclocked Q6600 (from 2.4 to 3) and the temps don't go above 52°C under 100% load on Prime95. Just for reference- the stock cooler with stock clock was giving me temperatures higher than 66°C!!!
Recommended!!! You won't regret it! Just make sure it will fit in your case and be ready to take your motherboard out to fit it.Ohhh.. and one more thing>ALWAYS USE AN ANTI-STATIC WRIST BAND!

5.ZALMAN FAN MATE 2 - System fan speed controller from: Zalman

Electronics : ZALMAN FAN MATE 2 - System fan speed controller

Pros:
It controls the fan speed, using a simple manual control.
Nice and cheap, easy to use.

Cons:
Ugly- no design thought whatsoever.
Tiny knob, fiddly for big fingers.

The way i used it was to find (or drill) a little hole in the back of my computer, and stick the controller to the inside of it, with the little control know sticking out. This made it nice and tidy :-)
Other than that, the thing works well and just plug in and go!

Electronics : Zalman - CNPS9700 NT CPU Fan
I bought this heatsink fan for my new rig, running a modest AMD Athlon64 X2 4600+. I bought it as I think stock heatsinks provided by AMD are a little noisey and don't cool enough. This cools down to between 32 and 36C depending on the load.

It is for all intents and purposes, silent. With no extra cooling on, I couldnt hear my pc and had to make sure it was turned on! It is far heavier than stock heatsinks but motherboard fixings are good. Make sure you anchor your motherboard in all the given places if mounting in a tower. The documentation is good, showing airflow direction, mounting procedure etc.

It comes with 'fanmate' which allows manual control of fan speeds with a little externally-mountable control knob.
