When I bought this battery the picture showed a JVC data battery and not what actually arrived in the mail. What is being sold here is a battery that connects to the camera via a power lead and does not support the camera "fuel gauge" function. Furthermore, the battery powers an LED while the power lead is plugged into it... so not only do you have to put up with reduced functionality but the battery is running down all the time whether your camera is turned on or not. For $50 I expected to get a proper battery. Note that this is not from a third-party seller, but from Amazon themselves! It was a big surprise to me.

Well I am in the process of trying to return this under it claimed 2 year guarantee. It has never been a patch on the original Cannon battery which lasted about 3 years of quite heavy use (I have 2 young kids so take loads of pictures). Basically I purchased this back in June 2007 but it has never been that good at holding it's charge, at first it would hold charge for upto 2 days with light-medium use. However since Jan/Feb 08 it will not hold even hold charge for more than a few hours, even with no use at all! If I use it straight after charging it then I may get 30 minutes if I am lucky. I guess you do get what you pay for, I know this is 10 times cheaper than the original, and even accepting the brand mark-up I recon there must be a cost ... Read More:
