Dont buy unless you have a lot of patience and money to waste!! Often hangs on bootup and requires a number of resets for it to boot (its done this from day 1, but steadily getting worse). Now its stopped detecting any SD card (tried 4) and reports a card error every time. Very disappointing because what it claims to do would be great if it worked properly!! Sending it back under warranty and see if their customer service is any better!!

I have owned 3 Archos PMP units now and bought this one due to its attractive price and really portable size with flash memory. My impression of the sound quality is excellent. The sound is 'warmer' than an Ipod nano (which I own I am not an Ipod hater!). The video performance whilst not as good as the Archos 605 is still very good and near DVD quality. I have now watched a couple of full length movies with no eyesight problems! Although the flash memory is small at 2GB it is very cheaply upgradeable and I have currently a 4GB SD card installed. I would agree with other reviewers buying the plug-ins is a pain but it is a well known issue on the internet, at least customers have the option. The docking unit is also really needed to ... I absolutely love this ipod! i bought it about 5 months ago from ebay (i know its about 3 years old) I found that because it was second hand that the battery life was almost dead but i found a website whihc shows you how to replace the battery! i love the fact of choosing a colour i found a website which shows you how to upgrade the memory and spray painting the ipod mini so after christmas i am going to buy a faulty ipod of ebya spray paint it and change the hard drive foir a bigger one!

Here's my review of plus/minus points on a scale: +3: The sound quality. Cannot be bettered, so superior to the iPod Nano in this regard that it's laughable. +2: It charges to full very quickly, even though it's a USB charge. Seems to charge from flat to full in less than an hour which is pretty quick compared to other players. +1: The FM radio is actually useful, much better than a lot of radios on larger players like the Zen Micro, which I struggled with. 0: Doesn't come with a mains charger. Not necessary though, as it charges from USB, but USB mains chargers are available separately. -1: Slightly concerned about the flimsy feel of the buttons. Though for me the only reason to buy a 1g (first generation) nano is if you want a black or white one. It's true what they say, you only have to put the 1g down on a normal surface and it's scratched. The 2g nano has a longer life battery and better casing, which they say is less likely to pick up marks. So for me it's a shame there isn't a 2g in white. If like me you're a windows user it's worth noting you can install the iPod as a drive on your pc but as these are older models, they require an up-date before you can transfer files. After wasting loads of time I found myself having to use the iTunes software. My advice even if you don't want to use iTunes, do the install ... Read More:
