Electronics : Canon EOS 30E Body Only

Why keep a film camera in the digital era? Especially when you have digital already?

Well, no reason at all, if the digital cameras do everything the film cameras can do. And they often do. But this is where the EOS 30E scores its points and earns its keep.

The 30 has excellent metering and a very rapid response. The selection system is easier to remember than the 300D's and the 350D's and it's arguable that scanned 100asa negatives or large prints give a higher overall resolution than either of these digital cameras. I'm sure that it'll be overtaken eventually, but so far (2005) I get more useable blow-ups for Photoshop than from the digitals - the grain is kinder than blockiness and JPEG artifacts, sensor kludges ... Electronics : Nikon F80S Camera Body Black Data

This was an insurance replacement for my late-lamented F301, but even if I'd had to pay for it, it would have been well worth it ! I'm a long-term Nikon fan, and this is one of the best ever 35mm products from Nikon. I've now acquired a D50, but I'll continue to use the F80s. I would recommend it to anyone - Nikon have fitted it with just about everything that a keen photographer would require, and yet at the same time have made it easy to use - several modes from two programs to full manual, switchable priorities, single and multi-shot settings, and d-pad on the databack. Full auto-focus too, or you can go manual if you want. The pop-up flash has a fair range, and the viewfinder has dioptre adjustment. I just love this camera ... Read More:

This was the best camera i could afford when i bought it, and i consider it to be an investment. I consider this to be a semi pro/serious amateur camera, in that it has all of the preset functions that operate extremely reliably for an amateur, and has a whole host of programmable functions for the semi pro.
My photographic needs are extremely varied, from fast sport photography, to portraiture, to nature/landscape photography. This camera is more than capable of all of the above, as it has reasonably high shutter speed (plus 4fps!), is very quiet, allows mirror lockup, and the AI auto focus is very good with most lenses (even third party). Images are as expected - well exposed and sharp, even in difficult lighting situations.

95.Nikon Fm3 Chrome Body Only from: Nikon

Electronics : Nikon Fm3 Chrome Body Only

An easy to use manual/semi-automatic camera. I have had mine a year now, use it for family stuff, close-up work, some architectural and landscape photography. A good all-rounder - mostly used for close-up work, it is fantastic, combined with the excellent Nikon lenses (works with manual and automatic focus lenses, although won't actually auto-focus for you). TTL flash and aperture-priority work a treat.
