Don't buy an MP3 player until you've considered this little gem from Sony! Sound quality is better, much better, than on the IPod. Integration with WMP11 and Windows is good. Apparently it works with iTunes as well for those that use it, but I haven't tried that. Video transfers easily and looks surprisingly good - colours are rich, picture is sharp and motion is clear. I was sceptical about the SenseMe feature (the player analyzes the music and categorises into channels such as classical, upbeat, lounge etc). Unfortunately had to return the first one as the touch screen was defective, but this was mitigated by the great service and a replacement was sent immediately. First impressions are that it is a great little device, smaller and lighter than a packet of cigaretes. The ability to put extra storage in, by use of a mini-SD card is great, especially if you are to away from home for a long time. Okay 4 Gb memory basic should be enough for most unless you want to use it solely for videos. I haven't used the device for a video yet, but from the sample given it is quite clear. With pictures it does not like too large a format so to display them you need to reduce the size/compression, however the display is nice and clear.Only niggle I have at present ... Read More:

I bought one of these yesterday and I am really happy with my purchase. The set up is easy, even for a computer Luddite like myself. Easy to use and quality sound. I have no negative comments. So glad I didn't join the Apple iPod brigade.

I have had this MP3 for 10 months and felt now is a good time to send a review. It is very easy to use (even for IT novices such as me). Good clear screen. Excellent sound quality (although I replaced the headphones). Good to have an FM radio and recording facilities also. Very easy to upload podcasts/downloads. One fault, if you can call it that, unfortunately I dropped it (with the leather case on) and the case popped open and it required repair. The only place to get it repaired to maintain the warranty was Germany, which took 5 weeks.

My son (11) uses this Sansa e280 mostly for MP3s rather than video or radio (although he has few Goodies episodes loaded up and a selection of photos). The MP3/WMA music sound quality of the player is good, although we have upgraded the supplied in ear headphones to £20 over-ear Sennheiser headphones. You can expand the players 8Gb memory via a micro SD slot. Our 2Gb mSD expansion card works fine, and apparently a 1Gb card also works well, but it's possible the player won't recognise larger mSD sizes (e.g. 4Gb) - and only [MP3] music files can run from this SD card slot. The internal Li-ion battery is user replaceable and lasts ages between charges - well over ten hours and probably about 15 hours at the moment (7 months on).
