I was in the market for a new player after my iPod mini gloriously died on me after 2 and half years use and I was told by apple it would never work again. After considering buying an iPod touch for some time I then found this gem of an MP3 player and I haven't looked back. For the same money I can buy an I pod shuffle or this baby. With 8GB memory it stores all the tracks I ever need plus pictures and movies. The screen is large enough to enjoy films without squinting and the quality is amazing, the sound quality is good and it has a touch screen! This has been said to be a poor man's iPod touch and I guess it is, but since I can buy THREE of these for one iPod touch I'm sticking to the ICE 1000. Good points - Huge ... Read More:

I ve had my nano for 18 months now and never used it with earphones. In my cars its wired in directly to the head units (which gives full control and avoids those crap fm transmitters) and at home I use docking stations. I also use an Altec IM7 for portable use. This brilliant device has rendered CD's and multichangers obsolete. I ve not come close to filling half the memory so started ripping at higher bit rates as suggested by the audiophilles but I really have nt noticed an improvement in audio quality.No quality or reliability issues which is a shame cos i cant justify buying the gen 4 model out this summer (16gb plus bluetooth is my guess!) Buy one now.

I bought this to simplify my jacket pocket when travelling to allow me to listen to music and DAB radio. At the price you get a very good media player but average DAB. DAB - first off you need to upgrade the firmware (4.58 currently) but still have eccentricities; only 42 stations which gives problems in London as it doesn't list the main BBC, no favourites list and if it can't get a decent signal nothing comes through. As a DAB radio the Pure products are a lot better. Music - I have until now only bought Creative, this is less stylish but substantially better sound and proper integration of the external card (Creative have still to get this right) which is the main reason I went with Cowon. To answer that nagging question that seems to remain unanswered on the web, or that which the Sony customer services fail to inform you, YES this gadget IS mac compatable and will function as an external hard drive. In addition to this, those with Apple Macbooks - The Bluetooth facility is easy to use and Syncs up well with my v4. Not much else to say that isnt covered in the tech specs. Buy this, and you wont regret it!

i received my player this morning after using the express next day delivery. i am extremely impressed with it, the built in speaker puts out fantastic sound considering the size of it, the only problem i can find with it is the bluetooth, hence 4 stars, it doesnt send or receive files its mainly used as a hands free for a mobile phone although it may just be that i havnt figured it out yet! it also has 5 built in games so i think the price for this 8gb player is very reasonable. i highly recomend this product.
