I bought this player because as a previous iPod owner I had no intention or purchasing another. In the main this is an excellent product, it is small, light, power efficient and easy to manage and transfer music to. It isn't perfect by any means - the display isn't as refined as the iPod Nano's and the navigation is a little clunkier. But for all that I'm extremely happy with it - the key emphasis to me is that it has superior sound quality to the iPods which I think is the fundamental point of any player; it sounds better and is cheaper than the Nano so it was an easy win.

This is a really small, light MP3 player which comes with decent quality Sony headphones, a USB cable adaptor for downloading music or photos (this cable also acts as its charger while plugged into a PC/laptop), plus a CD-ROM containing an MP3 conversion tool and Windows Media Player 11 which will need to be installed. The Sony Walkman Media Manager will also need to be downloaded from the Sony website. The software requires Windows XP SP2 or later. The Sony NWZ-S618F theoretically has 8GB of memory, though in practice it seems only to have nearer 7GB. When connected to my PC I am instructed that mine has a 7.3GB memory. The only other switches on the unit are tiny power and volume bumps on the lower edge (don't buy this if you have really fat fingers!) and a slide switch for "hold" on the back. Having owned an Ipod that continually crashed, and a Zen that always froze this player is fantastic.Easy to use, fantastic sound quality, great display and good quality head phones that stay in my ears when jogging! Its a real bargain. Some people have complained about the charging time but I have never found a problem. I listen to and from work about 1 hour everyday and I probably charge once a week. This player is a cut abouve the Sony Walkman and most players in this price range on the market.
