Ive had this camera for a year now and it has given me some excellent family and also some very good macro photos blown up into A3 I would recomend it to anyone especially a novice like myself.

I bought this camera around 8 months a go from Amazon and I have to say that initially I absolutely loved the device. You certainly can tell the difference in the quality of the images compared to my previous five cameras (which were all Casio or Canon) and the touch screen display is very easy to use and handy! The one thing that let the camera down for me was the unreliability of the device. Several of my friends and family have the same model and on occassions the retractable lence would jam, the camera would not switch on (despite charged) or failure messages would come on screen. This is the worst digital camera I have ever come across. It shuts itself down for no reason. it depletes reuseable batteries in minutes and the quality of indoor photographs is unbelievably poor. I have used a number of other Optios at work and they are good but this is the black sheep of the family - don't buy it

got for the other half about a year ago. i liked it because of the known make and largest zoom lens of any compact (at the time). initially i wasn't too impressed with the quality/build - i'm still not. it's slow to use, and difficult to take a good picture. the anti-shake thing doesn't seem to work and you can't take an un-blured photo at night unless resting on a firm surface. i'd not recommend it. think i'll get the new super zoom panisonic one from the tv adverts - or an SLR and a small sony.

Brilliant camera. I use mine mainly for weddings and portrait photography and it has never let me down. I am currently looking for a small compact to take with me to the beach ect and cant believe i will be paying about the same as what you can get the brilliant 10d for. I paid over a thousand a year ago and thought there must be somthing very wrong with the camera, for it to have dropped so low in price so quickly, but no it is as superb as it always has been they just bought out the new one two quick. If you are reading this and cant make up your mind on weather to buy the 10d,go for it you will not be dissapointed its a lot of camera for a very low price.

I bought this camera in Dec 2006. It is superb for Macro work - as it has two levels of macro, including a magnifying glass mode which allows you to get very close to the object. Unfortunately the Screen started to play up just after one year of purchase. A Fungus like spot appeared on the screen - which became multiple in a few months. However it did not affect the actual shots. Now I have over a dozenn of them which gives the appearnace of water having been splashed. But it is not on the outersurface, so no amount of cleaning will help. I took it to the SOny agents, and I was told it will cost 114£ or therabouts for Sony to repair it despite it being a faulty product. I was so disappointed, with the Sony after sales service. I have had this for over 2 years, and just replaced it with a Fuji Finepix which has a better Optical Zoom for a similar cost. Big plusses are lightweight, very long battery life, easy to navigate.I have also found this camera to be very robust, trust me if there is a way to break a camera, I can do it Minuses, took a while to adjust to lighting when it was new, sometimes takes 2 or more photos instead of one, difficult to turn flash off, close up shots can be blurry and night shots can be interesting but never as expected, takes fantastic firework shots though. I have used the video function with a voiceover before now and it is also useful for stuff that doesn't need sound, firework displays etc. Overall good value for money and has served me ...
