Great little camera if you want something cheap and chearful to take holiday snaps. The biggest pain is no audio when recording videos. What is the point of putting a video mode on a camera and having no audio? You have to resort to cardboard signs like in the old black and white films! Shame Cant believe no-one else mentioned it in their reviews - cheers

I bought this camera just over a year ago and initially I was very happy. I've now got a lens problem - lens clicks and will not expand completely, which caused focus issues and now won't work at all. From Internet searches this seems to have happened to quite a few people. A couple of other downsides, the metalic case makes the camera difficult to hold (slips through fingers if not careful) and the case is not very tough (scratches and dents after a month of normal use.)

I obtained this Camera in February 2008, and am quite pleased with it, both for build, colour and ease of use etc. Good points : good construction, bright LCD, ease of use Bad points. battery cover is poor, menu slow, image quality rather poor in low light, but excellent otherwise with wide angle. All in all, a good camera for the price, but dont expect wonders if you are a "super snapper", and it looks great with a Leica lens too.

The Leica lens alone is worth the price.I have the black version and it looks and feels better than the cheap feel of the plasticky silver one. Great pics, The image stabiliser is very good, at full zoom you need to have the tripod out.Very good flash.All in all it gives my SLR a run for its money.I got it from an online retailer for £150, so certainly look around. Happy filming.

I bought this camera only 16 months ago and it has already gone wrong. It has not been dropped or maltreated in any way yet the lens has become stuck half way out and all it will do is display "Lens error" on the screen. If you google "Nikon Coolpix Lens error" you will see that this is a common problem. The Nikon web site helpfully says that in this case the camera needs to be returned for repair but by all accounts the repairs cost more than the camera! I would advise people to avoid this.

I've had a 300D for over two years and it is a fantastic bit of kit. Very flexible, an excellent 18-55mm lens, and great quality pictures. Occasionally in auto-focus mode it focuses on the wrong spot and I don't notice, but that is a minor complaint. My only other observation is that in sport mode it can't take that many shots in a row and I suspect it can't take full advantage of the higher speed CompactFlash cards although I use 4Gb cards happily in mine. You can't go wrong with this if you want an entry level digital SLR. 6.3Mpixels seem a bit small in this day and age but you won't notice unless you're planning to print A2 or above...
