Electronics : Nikon S500 Digital camera [7MP 3 X Optical Zoom]

I bought this camera 2days ago and so far I love it. I needed a new camera as ma other one stopped working while on holiday. Anyways back to the point this camera is fantastic even thou I wanted the Nikon S7c I opted for this one to save money. The pictures are taken really quickly and the rotating menu is really easy to use but if found difficult you could just press the button and it will still work out. The camera is very compact than I expected, I was shocked when I saw it in the box. The battery charged really quickly as well, I say it took about 30-40 minutes.

I love this camera but the only reason that I gave it 4 stars is dat this is ma initail review after 2days so I haven't had any problems and also because this was the ... Read More:

This camera can take good photographs but you have to have the right amount of light and playing around with the settings doesn't help very much. It blurrs very easily and doesnt work well in low light. Not good if you suffer from slightly shakey hands. When used on night mode the shutter is EXTREAMLEY slow. Movie picture quality isn't too bad, but the feedback in the sound recording is so screechy it'll give you a headache. Mine is now unusable as the lens no longer winnds in and out of the body....it just suddenly stuck. If you are on a low budget and just want some simple snaps then this covers most basics and should last about a year. If you are more serious about photography like myself, steer clear and save up for something much more worth ... Read More:

I bought this camera to use when mountaineering, mountain biking and other camera-damaging activities. I have no doubts as to its toughness, but I am very disappointed about its functionality.

First things first. I have a real problem with the screen. There is no optical viewfinder, so all composition has to be done via the screen on the rear of the camera. In anything like normal sunlight, the screen is practically useless. I've tried all the contrast/brightness alterations I can, but the screen remains hopeless.

The lens should be a good one: Olympus have a fine reputation for their lenses. However, while the wide angle to standard end of the focal length range is good, at the telephoto end the images are distinctly soft. ... Read More:

I have had this camera for a while as a backup for my Canon Pro SLR, and from a photographer's point of view it is a nice camera, it takes pictures of a good standard and the lens is better than I had expected it to be for a camera of its size. It does struggle when you try to get it to do more complex things such as night photography with a lot of noise at high ISO, and it also has a hard time with sports photography. As for its size and usability it is fantastic, and it looks stunning. Mine has taken some battering (from being at the bottom of a camera bag and yet shows no signs of wear and tear. Over all it is a fantastic point and shoot, however take it off the beaten track and you may be a bit disappointed.

I recently won this camera in a photo competition run by The Telegraph, and after a few days of it just being sat in it's box I decided to have a go with it (I'm used to using DSLR instead of compact.) First impressions were great, it has a very fast startup time considering that it has to extend the lens and the photos that it takes are excellently exposed, accurately white balanced and sharp enough for prints up to about A3 size.

It has a whole host of useful features that I didn't expect to find in a compact camera this cheap, and the menu is very helpful if you're new to photography. It features a whopping 22 different scene modes, and unlike most cameras I've tried these ones seem to work pretty well! In the menu is also a "guided mode" ... Read More:
