I have only owned this camera for a few weeks but have used it quite a lot (300 plus exposures). I bought it for my wife but she was intimidated by its vast list of options. It is actually a cinch to use and can take sharp pictures hand-hels down to 1/25th - amazing!

The only reason I shall not continue to use it is that it lacks a electronic viewfinder (any viewfinder actually) and I hate framing on a screen.

Picture quality is up there with my Nikon 8700 and build quality and finish is also on a par with it. When you add in a 7x zoom which focusses within the very slim case, you have a superb snapshot camera which could, in the right hands, wn competitions.

Well where shall I start? I have been using this camera for 24 hours since being given it on Christmas day. First the good - nice design, fits the hand comfortably, big screen on the back, easy menu that anyone could use, easy to start up and take a picture on the fly. Just took one of three deer as I passed them and several quick photos during Christmas day. As a point an snap it's great and small enough for most pockets. And that's about all I have to say about the upside.

Indoor photos without the flash don't really work at all well - just can't cope with low light - and that's true outside as well. This morning a hour after dawn it was still using the flash on auto and non flash photos resulted in inconsistent results with ... Read More:

My son bought this camera in the States and promptly lost the receipt. It stopped working after a couple of months. He'd used it whilst swimming in the sea, snowboarding and for underwater shots in a swimming pool, but never below 3'-4'. As he had no proof of purchase for the guarantee he opened it to check it out himself, found plenty of evidence of water leakage, corrosion all over the circuit board etc. The pictures it produced were no better than from a camera half the price. Given that one is paying for the waterproof feature it was a great disappointment and consigned to the dustbin.

Nice little camera from Olympus. Very easy to use. I bought this camera to begin in digital photography, without spending a fortune on a digital SLR first. I like the camera a lot and use it whenever I can. I recommend this camera as a high-end "point-and-shoot" but its not for the serious amateur wanting to develop their skills. A very good asset to this camera is that the four AA batteries last a long time and they are very cheap and plentyful. A very nice camera for that "take-anywhere" imaging device. Downside? A somewhat jittery electronic viewfinder.

I still use a 35mm SLR film camera for my serious work and will be upgrading to a digital SLR in 2008. Although not retiring my film camera completely.
