Electronics : Canon PowerShot A560 Digital Camera - Silver (7.1MP, 4x Optical Zoom) 2.5" LCD

I have two Canon digi cameras. Canon A 590 and A 560. 30 pound odd different buy A590 and you can not go wrong. A560 is OK but no good at all for close up and macro. This A560 has average image quality but A 590 has its own class ... clearly the winner is A590. A570 A580 and A590 all are better than A560. Last year I bought A570 and immage sharpness was the best. Not much price different among them ... then go for A590IS.(Battery life for 560 is A+ )

This is a very good camera for the price. It is easy to handle and produces reasonable results. Unfortunately colours of similar tone have a tendency to blur and this can reduce the overall impression of sharpness. This would probably not be noticed on a 6 by 4 print, but would not be satisfactory on a A4 size.Serious photographers should look elsewhere, but a child would be very happy with it.

Bought this camera in November last year. It has been an excellent buy and does everything you would want from a camera of this type. However, mine developed a fault in September(the lens would not come out) and needed a repair. Sony have an excellent service for repairs but you MUST have a proof of purchase or your repair will cost you £30 MORE than a new camera. Luckily I bought mine from Amazon where you can retrace old orders. Saved me over £120 as I could not find my original invoice.
Thanks Amazon!

I had a Caplio R2 many years ago, and when I was to change my FujiFilm i naturally checked out the Ricoh range, which I think outbattles all competitors in small pocket cameras - especcially when it comes to objective zoom.

I am very pleased with the performance of this camera. It is a great point-and-shoot camera, but most suited for good lighted conditions. In bad lightning it usually is enough to do a little change to the exposure compensation to maintain good usable pictures. Here the great quick-access-joystick comes in handy. With this joystick, you can quickly access four of your favorite settings (you choose them yourself).

The battery life is great, I would estimate we do around 200-300 pictures, maybe half with falsh, ... Read More:

I'm no pro photographer but I'm an enthusiastic amature and own/have owned many a camera.

Canon has always been my camera of choice, however I purchased an S-series Fuji a couple of years ago when I was still loathe to ditch my 35mm SLR for digi but, at the same time, wanted a half decent digi. The S-series was good but chunky and I found myself still reaching for the SLR more often than not, just because it was equally as easy to lug about (a slight exaggeration, but still...). Anyway, a sticky-fingered accident led to the demise of my S-series and by then I had upgraded to a Canon DSLR anyway so I decided my second camera should be something more for nights out and flinging in the handbag. I didn't want to spend a fortune but wanted something ... Read More:

Waterproof to a greater depth (and for longer) than previous Pentax W models. More squared-off feel but easier to hold under water.

Claims to work at lower temperatures but still waiting to put that claim to the test - one of my previous Pentax W cameras stopped working on the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro due to the extreme cold. (No not me, my daughter took it.)

Can take the high capacity SD cards so I got an 8GB card hoping to take movies of upto 2 hours long but found out the camdera stops recording when 2GB is reached (30mins best quality movie) - you need to press record again to start the next half hour's recording (shame - that's one star off the five).

Face recognition is included on this model and seems to work quite ... Read More:

Great quality feel about this camera, easy to use, takes great lookin pictures. The video mode really suprised me, took some video on holls in Turkey of the shows we watched in the evening, wasnt expecting the camera to pick up much. But the quality of the playback is excellent through my Lcd tv, considering it was taken in low light, i was very suprised, no need for me buying a seperate video camcorder now.

I highly recomend this camera, for this price there giving it away.
