Electronics : Canon RC 5 - Camera remote control - infrared

I bought one of these (without full research I have to admit) and discovered the delay shutter "feature". If the RC-5 had the option of instant shutter it would be perfect. Buy the RC-1 (if you can find it) or go for a cable release...

I have owned other Canon A series compacts, but in my opinion this one is a step backwards. Picture quality was as good as any other camera I have used recently, but I can't recommend it for the following reasons. Firstly it has a command dial on top, which was encouraging - but no manual setting on the dial. Secondly, build quality is not good - the plastic feels cheap and slippery, the reduced/smoothed hand grip doesn't help. Finally the screen is low resolution, now well behind the competition. There are lots of similar priced digicams out there with manual options, metal bodies and higher resolution screens. My advice is to look elsewhere.

I bought this last year and wish I hadn't. The pictures are terribly grainy and no amount of fiddling with the settings improves matters. Whatever you do, buy another camera.

I bought this camera recently with the arrival of our first child to be able to record general bits and pieces as all new dad's do!
For the cost I wasn't expecting a great deal but I've been really surprised at how easy and well this camcorder performs.
For someone who just wants to take general video of 'stuff' you really can't do much better than this for the price, a friend of mine was a bit dismissive of it however he's a professional and spends more on his kit than most people do their houses but for the price he had to conceed it certainly does the job!

I had an eos400d and was considering buying this lens to upgrade from the standard, however decided to upgrade the whole kit instead. I ended up buying the new eos 50d and got an excellent deal on the package which came with this lens. I had never really worried about IS for shorter zoom ranges, however especially in low light you really notice the difference. It is considerably heavier than the run of the mill lenses, however feels perfect with the 30/40/50d cameras, however maybe not so good with a 400/450d unless you are using the battery grip as the camera starts to get a bit front heavy and off balance. All in all this is a great all round lens, great picture quality and does just about everything you need... beware of the odd size though, ... Read More:

I got this as a more portable alternative to my Canon XH-A1. It's small but solid (feels very well built) and very easy to use. I'm especially pleased with the excellent viewfinder, which I often prefer to the LCD (which is itself pretty good), and the 3.5mm external mic connector (uncommon on consumer camcorders).

Image quality is excellent, and there's a high degree of control. I'd give this 5 stars but for 2 shortcomings: first, I always prefer to have a complete manual control option (goes back to my still photo days). Although you do have a lot of flexibility, there is no pure manual control of exposure. Second, I still have some reservations about the hard disk/AVCHD approach. It means you have to start thinking about how to archive ... Read More:
