I have just bought this camera and it is very easy to use. The Which guide rated it as a best buy.

I have just returned from a jungle safari adventure in Madagascar which required low light photography and the camera operations to be quick and simple. The camera did not disappoint. I have some footage that is an absolute delight to me and frankly I am stunned as to how good the quality is given the poor light that I was working in. For example,I took close up footage of a red kingfisher asleep on a branch, at night. The subject was lit up by a pocket torch and the detail is wonderful.

The 35X optical zoom allows you to get very close to your subject. You will need a very steady hand however, because on maximum optical ... Read More:

Some people call me "retro" brcause I still use an analog film camera. Surely digital cameras are superb in many situations. Being interested in historic pictures of high quality, I still believe film cameras like Canon's EOS 3000V are good. Pictures that are stored on film will keep for at least 100 years. Enlargements from film are the best. I also like to take black/white pictures, especially portraits. In this case film pictures are still second-to-none. I like my Canon EOS 3000V because it is light weight, takes sharp pictures and it has an array of functions. But I can also make use of automatic functions if a picture best be taken quickly.

I have previously owned a Canon S70, S2IS and G6, and this camera is really like a combination of all three. It has the small size of the S70, the full manual options and ND filter of the G6, and the zoom/video quality/image stabilization of the S2 (well, almost).

I was originally reluctant to sell my G6 but I'm glad I did, as this camera cost me £100 less and is far more usable. Admittedly you lose the amazing F2.0 tack-sharp lens of the G6, but in return you get a camera which is half the size, twice as fast, and far easier to use in everyday situations. If they could have fitted the F2 elns into this body then that would have been nice, but then it would have needed a lens cap, bigger body and so on - basically the G6 was as small ... Read More:

Having had my Canon S40 for about 2 years I recently invested in a spare battery. I chose the Canon NB2L and have been very pleased with it. It holds it's charge well and is essential if, like me, you tend to forget to charge the battery in the camera on a regular basis. I don't leave home without it - though it works well there too!

as a first time user with a camcorder, I have to say I'm really impressed. I took it to America with my family and am very pleased with the footage I took, lasting memories. Very good value, I left all the settings on easy so just pointed and shot the images, no "rocket scientist" needed! Definitely recommended. Only one small problem there is no wire to connect to my computer,(USB port)and all I've looked at are 4-6pin connectors, could someone tell me which one I need to buy.
