I've owned my Canon 1000D for about 3 weeks now and have given it a reasonable test drive. The one thing that strikes me most is the ease at which I can find my way around the camera instantly to find the correct settings (very intuitive). The Camera noise is non-exsistant at ISO 800 and ISO 1600,(outstanding). The EOS 1000D is very similar in shape and style to the 450D, it even shares the exact same "LIVE VIEW" technology, all the button's are the same, layout the same, just the 1000D sports a 10mp Sensor and the 450D a 12mp Sensor. Some cameras have no instructions manual for the lens kit. Canon have advised: "If the client contacts Robert Scott Associates on 01869 331 741 they will be able to confirm and assist with the enquiry regarding instructions for the lens kit."

I bought a spare one of these for my 5D. It's rated at 1390 mAh and 7.4V. As it's an official Canon product it won't invalidate your warranty if that's a consideration. These battery packs give a very high number of shots and I feel confident with two of these fully charged I can shoot all day, review photos to my heart's content and use battery draining IS lenses without worry. In fact I've only had to change batteries on one occasion and by that time I'd had enough anyway! I think they are rated to give around 800 shots. Highly recommended.

I wanted to buy a camera that would take AA batteries rather than come with rechargeable batteries for 2 reasons. Firstly rechargeable batteries loose their capacity over time & secondly when I go on holiday I dont want to take the charger with me which adds weight. With AA batteries you have the option of buying disposable batteries & just throw them away after using them thus saving you weight on holiday. The camera itself is very good. Size wise its not the slimmest but for the price its very good. You get 7.1MP for around £70 (what I bought it for from Amazon) The supplied memory card is only 32MB but thats to be expected with any camera you buy. Its a fantastic battery, but thats all its is - a battery. It can be found elsewhere from as low as £5, so I wouldn't advise shelling out 8x to replace it.

This is the natural partner for the 18-55 lens that came as kit with the body. The lens is not actually 100% plastic as most of the people states, it is in part made by plastic, but the part that attacches to the camera body is painted alluminium, it looks and weights like plastic but is metal! The IS is amazing, and the lens very sharp, even at 250mm... once attached to your body, the only limit is your creativity. this is the best zoom lens around for a cheap budget if you own as EOS camera. Best Lens 195 pounds can buy.
