Electronics : Canon EOS 300D Digital SLR Camera Lens Kit [6MP, EF18-55mm]
I've had a 300D for over two years and it is a fantastic bit of kit. Very flexible, an excellent 18-55mm lens, and great quality pictures.

Occasionally in auto-focus mode it focuses on the wrong spot and I don't notice, but that is a minor complaint. My only other observation is that in sport mode it can't take that many shots in a row and I suspect it can't take full advantage of the higher speed CompactFlash cards although I use 4Gb cards happily in mine.

You can't go wrong with this if you want an entry level digital SLR. 6.3Mpixels seem a bit small in this day and age but you won't notice unless you're planning to print A2 or above...

I have used a Canon G5 for the past 3 years, and have used my 20d for the last 15 months, it has to be the best purchase yet. I find the the extra battery grip BG-E2 helps with the balance when using my 24-70mm f2.8 lens, as well as it having the extra battery and controls neatly placed where you need them.

I am amazed at the lowlight ability the camera has, as I often shoot without flash indoors and with or without a tripod I have got some awesome shots. Also to underline its simplicity I have had my 2 daughters use it on two separate birthday celebrations to shoot many shots, 370 between us all! They were celebrating their 18th and 14th birthdays, and they both were able to shoot some great shots on AF without the need to go to ... Read More:

I got this for Christmas - a replacement for my much-loved IXUS 40 which I'd had for a couple of years. There are lots of clever features, a much larger screen, so far I haven't missed not having a view finder, and the resulting pictures are sharp and brilliant quality - I've had lots of compliments.
The extra-wide lens is fantastic - I asked a guard at the British Museum to take a picture with it last week, he thought it was a very cool camera because he gets asked to take lots of pictures and this was the first time that he could fit the whole museum onto a single shot.
I haven't quite got to grips with the menus yet - and if there is a downside, it's that the manual is only supplied on disc (a printed manual is available for about £15 via one of Canon's ... Read More:

At first I was dissapointed with the size of the camera, it's not the best looker in the world. But boy has it got some features _ I will be happy to use it in manual mode all the time so that I can adjust it for depth of field or low light just as I can on my old SLR and the thing is it it so simple to operate - that is after the intial set-up. I don't know why manufacturers have to use cute icons instead of words as you have to keep going to the manual (no book here it is in pdf format off a CD) so it is tedious, but once done to the settings you want it is then so easy to operate. If you don't want the advanced settings then the point and shoot auto features and handy dial for night shots, portraits and lanscape etc are ideal - at the end of the day you would find it ...
