I have had this camera for about a year and a half now and so have had time to get used to its good and bad sides. The pictures it takes I have to say are of a really nice quality, especially for the price, but the focussing is slow, which means it's very hard to get quick snaps that actually capture the moment you want, and it also does take a bit long to recharge inbetween pictures. The AA batteries that came with it lasted less than a day, but the rechargeable ones I now use are much better and last a long time. The wrist strap became frayed very quickly and I no longer use it but i do like the little tripod it came with, which is very handy for photos where you dont want shaking hands to affect the picture quality. Fantastic camera. I bought this nearly 2 years ago for my Brothers wedding. I wanted a camera that was easy to use but took fantastic shots; the IXUS II does just that. I bought a larger SD card, holding up to 250 pictures as I wanted lots of room. It was great to be able to link straight to my laptop and see the pictures very quickly. The pictures I and others took with the IXUS II are amazing. The colour and sharpness is outstanding. I'm a lover of SRL but when it comes down to it the IXUS preforms better under every condition without any fuss. In the end the wedding pictures from the IXUS turned out better than the very good proffesional wedding photos. I've had a 300D for over two years and it is a fantastic bit of kit. Very flexible, an excellent 18-55mm lens, and great quality pictures. Occasionally in auto-focus mode it focuses on the wrong spot and I don't notice, but that is a minor complaint. My only other observation is that in sport mode it can't take that many shots in a row and I suspect it can't take full advantage of the higher speed CompactFlash cards although I use 4Gb cards happily in mine. You can't go wrong with this if you want an entry level digital SLR. 6.3Mpixels seem a bit small in this day and age but you won't notice unless you're planning to print A2 or above...

Canon PowerShot G7 purchased on 9th June 2007 total failure october 2008. New circuit board required. Repair bill will be £265.00. I contacted Canon to ask for a goodwill jesture only to be told no chance. The camera had very little use holidays etc.

The camera has been very useful and reliable for the past 7 months or so, good photos and the IS system is extremely useful especially when taking night time shots without a flash! HOWEVER i have had a constant problem with the lens, sometimes it would not retract and sometimes it would, sometimes it would not come out, and sometimes it would. Now having had it for not even a year the lens is stuck and will not retract at all. This means that i cannot use the camera as it will not turn on without telling me there is a lens error and therefor turns off immediatley. Very dissapointing for a Canon camera.
