My Vivitar broke after ony 3 months of use. It was under warrenty, so was returned. After 6 weeks of silence I discovered that Vivitar have gone into recievership and I couldnt get my camera back. So dont buy a Vivitar.

What can I say? This is an amazing camera and a brilliant price. It takes wonderful photos and is very simple to use. I can't think of any downsides to it, it is just amazing!

Dissapointed with the quality of photos. Comparing the 1010 to its previous model, 840 - there was a big difference in quality of photos. 1010 was blurry around the edges and 840 was crisp. This is the disadvantage of having all the extra's packed into a compact camera- however, you would think that Olympus make the newer model atleast of the same quality. Fine for regular photos, but as soon as you want to do some cropping and blowing photos to larger sizes, sacrifice quality a great deal. I find the 840 the better option, or even sharper photos are produced by Casio. Can't comment on other brands of camera's, as I haven't used them as yet. I would recommend you try it out in the shop first, and make a decision.

I bought this camera as a replacement for a Kodak APS camera and can really see the advantages of digital photography over film. The only negative thing with the camera is that it lacks 'face detection' which is sometimes noticeable on distant shots. It comes with software for making minor adjustments to your photos, such as the brightness or cropping the picture, but a lot more basic than other software available, which may be an advantage if you're not too technically minded. It also comes with other software for things like making greeting cards from your photos, which I'd recommend that you don't install unless you plan to use it.

This camera is amazing. I've owned 2 other ones in this line (and managed to lose one and destroy the other) and this one is a big improvement over the F50 I had before. The pictures it takes are amazing and the auto mode is excellent. I just wish it took MPEG4 videos. If it did that I'd ask Amazon for a 6th star.

had this 3 months now and i am very pleased with it. adjustable screen is fantastic making it very easy to get low angle shots or shots with the camera held above your head. 15x zoom is great and super stable in your hand and it will zoom up to 36x although this is digital zoom but at 9mp its still gets a reasonable shot for that odd distant picture. shutter speeds are quick and there is no lag from pressing the button to taking the shot. have found myself using the auto shoot mode quite a lot as it always takes a great picture (in well lit conditions)and in manual mode its a dream to use and i do like the thumbwheel control method. once your used to it you never need to look at what your doing it just becomes so intuitive. overall ...
