Re the previous review, my camera took over 90 photos before needing a battery change. I think that very good. The quality of the photos is excellent, my only gripe is i've never used a camera without a view finder and it took a while to adjust. I wanted a good all round camera that I could put in jeans my pocket and this is perfect.

Without a doubt the worst camera I have ever owned. It's been back to Nikon three times now and every time it is returned with additional faults. Nikon made good 35mm cameras but don't appear to have cracked the digital market.

what a great piece of kit. im 18 and ive been taking pictures for as long as i can remember (my mum and dad are both photographers), i have a nikon d3 and a d2x, but i needed something that was cheaper, that i could take to locations where the camera might encounter the odd knock! i had the nikon d40 when that first came out and thought it was a little cracker, but no longer needed it, so ebay it was for that. but i can safely say ill be using it alot more then i thought, the VR kit lens is great (although im using the 55-200 onit atm) but for £340 (what i paid) this camera AMAZING, ive used camera more ten times that and recieved results far less satisfying, the camera is light, and VERY well made, it feels like ... Bought this camera for a present for my girlfriend - she used it for one night took 6 photos and put it in her bag, next day the display screen was not working and the zoom lever on top of camera had folded. It had been in a bag and only subject to reasonable pressure! CASIO REFUSED TO FIX OR REFUND IT. I looked at the switch when we got it back and you can bend it with ease it is so flimsy. I was reluctant to buy a casio originally due to concerns on build quality - my fears have been confirmed, this is the worlds 1st disposable digital camera!

purchased this item from 'Camerabox'from the Amazon page, this has to be the best on-line sevice I have had. Ordered lunch time one day and in my hand before 10 a.m. the next.Things then got better as the 870is is a better camera than I was expecting, I did not look at the basic manual but after the 2hr battery charge thumbed my way around the well built gem and all the controls and operations of the camera fell in to place with such ease. The reason for my choice is that Canon cameras seem to do what they are supposed to do with good reliability and the 28mm wide angle of this model was of importance to me. I first purchased the Lumix TZ5 after discovering that it took HD video footage and soon found out it was a mere after thought as it definitely needed ironing out! First few problems where evident as it made a horrific grinding sound that was recorded every time you zoomed in and out not to mention the tortoise like speed of the zoom function whilst videoing. It also had Mono sound recording and most importantly you can only take 10 minutes or so on a 4GB Card whereas you can capture 50 Minutes of the same quality 720p video footage with the Sony and yes with very high quality stereo sound!
