I have used most makes of compact digitals because I love snapping on the spur of the moment but it is mainly used to capture fast moving shots of my dogs jumping or in action and my daughter. Previously using an Ixus I was having problems with indoor shots and getting focus on dogs jumping in poor light. On recommendation I bought a Fuji FinePix F60 - amazing and for me much better than the Canon which cost a lot more. The extras I love are the continuous shot mode, cropping and the options of taking two photos with and without the flash - saves me loads of time messing around with adobe. The indoor picutres I have taken are far superior to the Canon and Sony models I had before, the fast shots I took last weekend are sharp and in focus ... Read More:

Like another reviewer here I use a Nikon D200, but wanted a compact camera for times when carrying a large DSLR is not convenient.

The Nikon P5100 has a lot going for it and just one or two things which I do not like. I'll list them here, starting with the good points:

Good:
- Colour and image quality; very natural looking images - similar to the D200. This is the best thing about this camera in my opinion.
- Auto ISO which can be capped at 100, 200 or 400 - this is very well thought out and esier to set than on a D200!
- Ergonomics. Very comfortable to use. The grip is excellent and the controls are very intuitive to anyone familiar with Nikon equipment.
- Setting different apetures and ... Read More:

This was my first digital camera (my main camera was a Minolta 7000 SLR, which is now worthless!). Martin Lewis recommended it as a good buy from Amazon and after 18 months I am still very pleased, so much so that I am about to buy one for my wife. I have only one problem with it, so a word of advice to potential buyers. When you turn it on, check the mode dial. On more than one occasion I have taken a photograph and discovered that I have taken 15-20 seconds of video!! Otherwise, excellent value for the money.

Until recently I had a Nikon D80 and I also wrote a review about it. So I think it would be useful for you, D80 owners and D300 prospect buyers, to have some clues about what this D300 is about from a former D80 user. I will update my review as I'll be getting into more and more of this camera.

First noticeable difference is the size. The D300 is bigger and heavier than the D80, but the size it is not a problem for mid-sized hands like mine are. About weight: I bought a neoprene strap some time ago for my D80. I use it also on the D300. The strap which is included with the camera is a bit too rough for my skin and the weight of camera can be a real pain if you carry it on too long. Any neoprene strap will do, just choose one which is ... Read More:

Having seen this camcorder a few weeks back online, I was instantly intrigued as to how good it actually was. After all, it boasts FULL HIGH DEFINITION (1920x1080P) resolution, a 5X Optical Zoom at 1080P, as well as being able to store all of your footage straight to an SDHC card, which is included with the camera. All of this for less than £200, immediatly raises both a positive and negative/reserved response.
But thankfully after doing a little research on the product for additional info/performance, as well as contacting the seller "Furry Banana Digital" who was excellent in providing answers to any questions I had to ask, I decided to order it.
Now for anyone who has been curious as to what kind of HD quality they would get from a camera in this ... Read More:

I bought a Pentax Optio L20 (the 7MP version of this camera) from amazon for about £100 in 2007. Initially I was very excited as the build quality is excellent, its fantastically small and its a highly rated brand. However, I have ended up being dissapointed as too many of my pictures look soft, even though I am an experienced amateur photographer. I have now got in the habit of shooting multiple pics of any scene in the expectation that some will be out of focus and hopefully at least one will be fine. I have tried changing the autofocus and expusure settings, but nothing seems to work. Its frustrating.
