I have now been using this camera for 6 months and find it easy to operate.Like all technology you just have to make yourself aware of the contents of the user guide which is comprehensive.
The still and video results are very good both in detail and colour.I always use large or widescreen for stills and highest resolution for video.Get a couple of large capacity SD cards, I am using 2GB but think a 4GB would be useful.
You only get the one chance for some of those perfect shots so why spoil quality by using a lower resolution.
I have used the lower settings for E bay pics.only.
My only disappointment is that I cannot crop pictures within the camera (yes I can do it on my computer) or use optical zoom while taking video, ... Read More:

Having been thinking about buying a new camera to replace my ageing 5mp point-and-shoot for a few months, I was tied between the Lumix TZ5 and this camera. Having played with them on the high street there was absolutely no competition.

I took this camera away with me to Turkey a couple of weeks ago. Knowing very little about photography I kept the camera on automatic most of the time, though the sunset and sports modes are very good, the sunset scene mode really brings out the reds and oranges in sunsets. Using a tripod you can get some really amazing night shots. In the right hands you could get some brilliant shots with this toy, that's not to say that an amateur can't achieve similar results.

I'm very pleased that ... Read More:

This is the best camera I have owned to date. I have been amazed with the quality of the shots plus I really enjoy using the wide angle lens. I makes so much sense having a lens like this, it just enables you to get much more in your pictures. The image stablization is also really effective, I haven't had any problems with blurred images even in low light. The screen on the back is big and bright which I guess you would expect from a Samsung and another thing I like is the battery seems to last a long time compared to my previous cameras. In summary this is a really simple camera to use, packed with features and takes great shots. Plus it looks great! My only critisicm would be that is doesnt come with a case which would have been nice!

I purchased this camera for the extra manual features it boasts as I like to be a little creative on occasion with my photography.

I've only owned the Fuji f50 for a short time and many respects I'm very impressed with it.

It does however appear to have one frustrating flaw in my opinion. This is with scenic views that have a high degree of light contrast. (Ie: Lakes with a lot of cloudy sky reflection.) The pictures tend to come out really dark and I have been unable as yet to find any settings that can compensate for this effect.

I took pictures of similar scenes with both this camera and my Samsung Digimax i6 and though the focus was better with the Fuji f50 the Samsung had little problem with the light contrast.

I love the way this camera looks. I've had it for a few months now, and tellingly I've only used it a few times, preferring to use my old 7 mp Samsung instead.

The problem I have is that I just can't figure out how to use the settings - admittedly I am a techno-moron - the icons seem to be counter-intuitive to me.

It's frustrating to read all these glowing reviews, because the pictures I get from the AUTO setting just aren't right: there's too little light etc. On the Macro mode, it seems to be hit and miss as to whether it manages to find the focal point, and the button icons don't give me a clue as to what the settings do.

You can set the definition of the pictures to fit the memory card you already have - as 12mp shots take ... Read More:

A good-sized compact camera that is small enough to put in a shirt pocket but has large enough controls to manipulate easily. The camera feels solid and the Zeiss lens seems very sharp, with the 2.5 inch screen being of a reasonable size. The 4x zoom is easy to operate and the quick zoom button is also quite useful. The wide-angle (30mm) capability was the feature that most attracted me to this camera and it works well, both for landscapes and for interior photography. With a capacity of 10 megapixels the camera should be able to cope with most projects and this resolution can be reduced for day-to-day snap taking. Menus are fairly intuitive and are quick and easy to negotiate and there appears to be a good selection of useful modes including face detection etc. The camera ... Read More:

Cheap little camera that certainly did enough for me. I bought it about a month ago when Amazon were selling it at the same price and am very pleased with it. Lastly, contrary to what one previous reviewer said it does have a self timer. It's listed as a function in the manual but not explained for some reason. It does however work and can be set for either 2 seconds or 10.

what a great piece of kit.
im 18 and ive been taking pictures for as long as i can remember (my mum and dad are both photographers), i have a nikon d3 and a d2x, but i needed something that was cheaper, that i could take to locations where the camera might encounter the odd knock! i had the nikon d40 when that first came out and thought it was a little cracker, but no longer needed it, so ebay it was for that.

but i can safely say ill be using it alot more then i thought, the VR kit lens is great (although im using the 55-200 onit atm) but for £340 (what i paid) this camera AMAZING, ive used camera more ten times that and recieved results far less satisfying,

the camera is light, and VERY well made, it feels like your harding...urm a brick?, its so ... Read More:

I bought this product in advance of my 7 day old son being born (not off Amazon due to price). This was to reaplce a lower budget camera from old. The attraction was the HD output and the video option, the camera produced brilliant results and functionality is superb, whilst I am no expert on photography this offers everything I require and more. It also looks very stylish in black!!!
