I am pleased with the camera itself but didn't appreciate that delivery was from the Netherlands. As such, the instructions, which appear comprehensive, come in 4 languages but none of them are English. In addition, the battery charger power lead comes with a european pin plug. A UK plug was enclosed but you either need to change the plug yourself or use an adaptor. None of this was apparent when I ordered the camera and whilst not a serious problem, it was certainly frustrating.

I was deciding between this, the Sigma DP1 and the Canon G10 cameras. I prompted for the LX3 on the basis of: 1. I believe that Canon have made an error by increasing the pixels on their camera and keeping the same size sensor chip. I also believe that the G10 was probably slightly too big (more on that later). I was also phased by its pricing as I felt it did not offer anything significantly better than the LX3, while being around 30% more expensive. 2. I have just bought this camera and it is living up to expectations after upgrading from my IXUS 800. It has a great 3 inch screen, good optics and good picture results, excellent quality feel about it, quick to take and review images, useful 4x zoom and the control layout has been improved so it is as about as easy to use as it could be. It may not have the HD video capabilities of some others bit this camera's claim to fame is that it does what is says better than most other camera- Great photos, easy to use and a great screen for reviewing. I have bought a screen protector though as it would be a shame to damage the screen as it is so nice!

There are reports all over the net that the lens will have a fault within a year of purchase and Canon will not be interested in your problem. It has happened to me after just 9 months! The lens won't open and displays a,"Lens error,restart camera",message.It won't restart. Canon don't care! This is a generic problem with Canon cameras. BUYER BEWARE!
