iDect X1 Twin Digital Cordless Telephone - Silver I nearly didn't buy these as there were on 2 reviews on Amazon which slated them but they had excellent reviews on several other sites. I'm sure the poor reviews were honest and based on those peoples experience but I took a risk & had a far better experience. These phones look very stylish and I've found the audio quality excellent in all areas of the house. The buttons on the handsets are very small but are well spaced out so no problems in operating even with the largest of fingers. I would only say the buttons would be an issue for people with poor eyesight as the labels with the buttons are very small. Also the choice of ring tones and volumes is very limited ... Read More:

Having been let down for the same phone by the company liGo who called me up to say this phone was out of stoke, yeah right they had just priced it up wrong and would not sell this at the price advertised!!!!! They then tried to palm me off with a Siemens phone a superior phone, yeah right!! However having purchased this phone from DST ltd, delivered the next impressive to say the least. Anyway the phone fantastic does exactly what it says on the tin. forget about the reviews that talk about volume the display etc they must be partially death or maybe visually impaired.. BUY THIS PHONE and forget the rest.

As has been mentioned the display whilst readable, isn't that clear when viewed in the dark when the blue backlight is on. Changing the contrast doesn't help a great deal but is fine under ambient light. The rubberised buttons themselves also light up very brightly. I bought the quad handset version yesterday for a good price & set up the remaining fully working older Philips Onis handset as a 5th phone - it looses functions such as answerphone access but can make & receive calls including intercom mode to & from the supplied handsets. The menu structure is generally OK but to stop the red "Event" LED from flashing on the handsets requires too many button presses through the menu for my liking (one option is to also set a bleep ... Bought this cordless phone about a year ago and it has the worst sound quality I have ever experienced for a DECT phone. The interference and static is just unimaginable. I've turned off wireless broadbands etc etc but nothing works. I actually can not believe why a good brand like Philips would let this phone out on the market. Other features like speakerphone, meny, re-dial etc work perfectly. PLEASE avoid this phone (I have never bothered to write a review in my whole life so you can imagine how frustrated I'm re this phone). I heard Panasonic is the way to go for good, non-static quality DECT phones - my 2 cents.

Firstly was a Philips jobby that I hankered to replace with something more snazy and mistakenly got a Magicbox system (the one with touch sensitive keys) and it was awful (kept activating speaker phone or hanging up when you touched the phone to your cheak).
