I bought this phone for my 70 year old mother a few months ago. I decided on this model because Which? Magazine recommended it. I'm glad to say they were right and the phone is great. Its easy to set up and use and because both me and mum have poor eyesight the illuminated numbers pad means we don't struggle to much to find the keys we want. With lots of grandchildren in the house the handset has been dropped quite a few time with no damage so far, so for us this phone is a winner and I'm now looking to buy another one for my home.

This is a well-designed and user-friendly product at a good price. Sound quality is very clear; my only reservation is that the base unit only flashes when a message has been received (I'm used to hearing a loud beep!)

Perfectly adequate system; a real boon to have so many handsets. I like the way all 4 'phones look the same; the base-station is distinguised only by the addition of a small green light. The 4 handsets have independent phonebooks which makes setting-up time-consuming. If I had a criticism of the system in use it would be that the LCD displays are rather weedy and can be difficult to read. Great service from Big Box Co.

Looks like a good value package. It ain't. I bought the two handset package. Set-up is easy enough and the digital answer machine is actually pretty good so far as recorded quality goes. But the devil is in the detail. Speech quality on the handsets is variable - some times good, but many times virtually unusable. My old DECT phone (also a BT product) was far superior. What really irritates is that the time and date stored on the phone keeps changing unpredictably. Today is Tuesday 2nd September and I just reset the time again to be 21:39. I poll the base station answering machine to check it has the right time. It tells me it is Sunday and the time is now . ... Read More:

This phone doesn't work with repeaters and the range is poor in old houses with thick walls. The address book lacks certain features that one is used to on a mobile phone. For example, you cannot delete all the entries in the phonebook - you either have to delete each one individually which is a slow process or reset the phone to factory conditions and lose everything else as well. The copying of the phonebook from SIM card/other phone sounds good in theory but the implementation has been poorly thought through. There is no "overwrite" mode only addition. So if you change a number in one phone and try to copy to others, you'll end up with 2 entries for the name, one with the old number and one with the new. Don't even think about updating a ... BT Synergy 4500 Dect Trio With Answering Machine The sound is very bad although it has a loud speaker but this is too loud for a private conversation and the batteries only last about a day off the stand then require charging. On the plus side it has text messaging, caller display and a whole lot more. You can use your sim card to either add your mobile phone list to your phone list or copy the phone list to your mobile, which is handy if you get a lot of calls from mobiles. Overall I would not recommend this phone.
