Purchased this for my husband as a birthday present and wasn't really sure what to expect and wasn't sure whether it would actually be any good. I was very surprised and very pleased with my choice. Setting it up and setting the time was very easy to do. It came with a CD to install the software to load your photos. This was very straight forward, easy to do and worked first time. Once the programme was installed it was very simple to choose my photos from my computer to upload. As your photo will probably be bigger than the screen, the programme let's you edit the photo by showing you a red dotted line representing the size of the screen, that way you can ensure that you get the person in the screen shot. When you're shopping for a digital photo frame, only two criteria matter. The way the frame looks, and the way your photos look, displayed on the frame. If I were rating the Nix on the former, it would have received full marks. Apart from a slightly flimsy plastic stand, the build quality is superb: on par with that of a decent static frame you'd buy for your non-digital pics. In any case, a leather finish is quite unusual for digital frames, and this one surpasses the quality I've seen on comparable units. On the tech side too, Nix have obviously gone to some trouble to produce a decent frame. Good - it's about £100 cheaper than anything else I could find that allowed me to easily convert old videos to mp4, record TV in a PSP friendly format, and generally replace my old video recorder with a digital equivalent. It's also very small, easy to set up and allows instant recording as well as scheduled recording. Finally, it accepts many different memory cards and even acts as a memory card reader. Bad - the remote takes a lot of getting used to. The buttons are clunky and it requires very careful aiming at the main box to work. The sound is also often very poor on the recordings. I bought this frame to go up in my workplace, where it is used to give people an almost real-time overview of our daily activities as we take memory cards out of cameras and slot them straight into the display. Technophobe colleagues have taken well to using the frame, which has earned nothing but compliments - people coming in have been very impressed by the size of the frame and quality of the playback. First off the idea is great as I have lots of pictures of my 2 year old. However this item comes with basic instructions that are at best, poor and there is no backup when things go wrong.
