An great HDD/DVD unit, only the lack of a second digital tuner stops it being perfect. It has true Plug & Play capability, recordings are easy with choice to HDD or DVD. Transfers are simple, and the quality of the auto chaptering is excellent making it really easy to edit out the adverts before saving stuff to DVD. The HDD is immense taking a couple of hundred hours of recording and very high quality. I can't praise its abilities enough. The only negative in my opinion is laughingly small, the EPG is imperfect, and 30% of the screen is taken up with adverts!?! Sony please sort out a setting to supress this! Yesterday, my husband bought this DVD recorder to go with our new Toshiba TV and, on paper, it seemed a good buy. 250GB of hard drive space, a reasonable price. On taking it home and setting it up, it became obvious that all was not well. It is noisy with a really audible humming noise. Trying to press a channel number on the remote didn't seem to work, we then realised that it was because it was so slow to respond. The remote control is made of plastic and not even smooth plastic at that! The recorder really feels cheaply made and looks like it has been put together in some third world country.
