I currently have a HX510 which is great and i have with-held upgrading this unit for the simple fact that the newer models do not have the record pause function which is for me a major plus (and why oh why cant Sony have decent picture search speeds like all other dvd players and indeed their own players?) x1.5 too slow, x2 umm the best your gonna get and x3 too fast. Anyway, to resolve the issue of the "C:13 and a message saying 'The Disc is Dirty." error this seems to be caused by using 16x dvd discs (which are now more commonly available). I've switched to using x8 speed discs from Woolies and they record using high speed dubbing all the time. 16x discs produce the "C:13 error. i think the manual actually says something about 8x being ... The user interface is one of the worst I have ever had the misfortune to use. 4 separate button presses and 40 sec wait to get to a Freeview channel from standby. The 7 day EPG takes 7 minutes to load - for each channel!!! Persistent random freezes and hangs. Totaly unusable. Returned to supplier within a week.

As with C & J Yates above, I also received an Orbit unit rather than the advertised Allcam. But rather oddly the contents of my Orbit box (which had obviously been previously opened) included two of every accessory (AV cables, battery charger etc.). But no antenna was included, which is clearly shown in the Amazon screenshot. When I queried these points with Allcam I was told: "the Rubber Antenna is optional accessory, you need to pay for it extra. TV reception strong depends on the aerial you are using and the location where you are, I am afraid the Rubber Antenna can't guarantee this as well." On the whole have been very happy with the machine, agree with the comments on slow start but we are learning to be patient! We haven't gone too much in to detail but have found one big problem with DVD playback- it doesn't do Region 2 (which is what Europe comes under). Being not technically minded and checking the manual there doesn't seem to be any reference to dealing with this. Can anyone tell us how to change this or have we been completely ignorant and not paid attention to the details and it isn't possible? Just took it for granted that it would automatically play DVDs from UK when we bought it.

I have been installing this TV today and have found it very straightforward to set up and operate. I am very pleased with the picture and the HDD is a great extra. The built-in freeview TV guide is less than useless compared to the one I previously had, however this is a triviality compared to my overall satisfaction (so far!). I would therefore recommend the Sanyo as very good value for money.
