Being anxious to load up my new iPod, I originally bought the Nisis 3-port FireWire card, also available on Amazon. The positive reviews and affordable price made it seem like a great value. After experiencing frustration getting Windows XP to recognize the card, I was given suggestions to try a higher quality card.

I turned to the Adaptec 4300, which is unquestionably pricier, but I was desperate to get my iPod connected. I received it within two days and installed with zero problems, simply by plugging it into the PCI slot and booting up. If I did experience any trouble, the support was there, unlike the barebones website of the Nisis card manufacturer. I encourage everyone out there in search of a FireWIre card for your iPod not ...
