For the increasing number of Windows iPOD users out there looking for a good value combo drive that works I can strongly recommend the Nisis Combo Card. Nisis cards are well made and this is no exception. It is half the price of some of its competitors and works perfectly with Apple's iPOD. It provides 2 external USB2 and 2 external IEEE 1394 ports and a further one of each internally on the card itself. For a device that you do not want to keep connecting or disconnecting these could even be used for an external device. The documentation is excellent - one CD-ROM drive with full documentations and one CD-ROM with all the installation drivers. "Plug & Play" this is not, the item shipped is not the one pictured, it required additional drivers (not supplied) and a lot of of time to get it working. Dont get me wrong it does work and seems to do so quite well! The cable is only 1m Long so get an extension unless your PC is ON your desk.. Oh and there is no software with it only a Mini CD with drivers for serveral other items, shame it didnt have the ones you need on it. Bottom line.. spend a bit more on a different card unless you fancy fiddling around and searching 3rd party driver sites for help.

I needed to install a firewire on my computer so that my 11 year old daughter could copy video from her Samsung VP D361 recorder. The recorder only has a DV cable slot so firewire was the only way. looked at a number of products but chose this one because of useful information given and the price. It came quickly and was very easy to install. Basically take the side panel off of the computer tower, remove dummy slot to create a space and plug into mother board. With XP it is plug and play but for 98s there are drivers provided. Having never done anything like this before(and not always having luck with electronics) I switched on with held breath.
