In case it helps anyone considering purchasing a Nuvi 300 - they have a Mac specific support section, specific Mac firmware and map update routines as well as full support for a number of other web/mapping utilities - which in my experience worked first time, error free. ... it's also a great little GPS.

I had an older model tom-tom which worked well but got stolen. This was a present to replace it and my disappointment in this supposed upgrade is immense. There was a ridiculous amount of farting about getting it activated using a product code to get an item code to get an activation code and so on. Once activated it worked fine....for a day! On it's second outing it just stopped working half way through my journey and hasn't worked since. The device freezes like a microsoft PC and no amount of re-sets can get it up and running. Also in the (albeit) short time it was working the voice distorted due to sub-standard speakers in the reduced size of unit. A frustrating and bitterly disappointing experience. I won't buy a tom-tom again.

This review is pitched at those of you that want a sat nav for yourself / significant other. It is aimed at you because you're looking at the lower end of the price range and because if you don't already have a TomTom the chances are either you've got an old one that you've had enough of or you're only just getting round to buying one even though you've done very well thank you with a road atlas. So, what's the difference between this and other £100 ones? OK, here's my experience. I've used 3 different forms of sat nav. The first is a £100 Garmin unit I bought my girlfriend. Set up time for the Garmin Nuvi 255W is exceptional get it out switch it on and your done, it finds satelites quickly and redirects in seconds if you get it wrong. The battery charges rapidly using the in car charger supplied. The maps are clear and very easy to navigate around using the touch screen. It takes very little time to install all your favourites and has a fantastic range in the Points of interest. If you miss the last instruction just touch the top bar and there it is repeated and written on a split screen. I have read reviews saying that the maps are not current I bought mine, registered at garmin.com and was directed to a free update to install 2009 maps. Great piece of equipment, it does everything that is claimed. It doesn't move on the dash and is simple to use. Another bonus is that being closer to you it is easier to view the Sat-Nav. Full marks would recommend to anyone

I've had the 520T for 6 months now. It was my first Sat Nav and I'm very pleased. The main device is very easy to use and has been genuinely helpful, even though I rarely drive long distance without a passenger. The plug-in traffic aerial only gives information on major roads like motorways and hasn't always been accurate, so next time I'd get just the 520 without Traffic (Tom Tom are bringing a new Traffic add-on to the UK next year, which promises to be much better, though more expensive). I'd give the 520 itself five stars and the current Traffic aerial two stars, hence four overall.

I bought this to go with my Forerunner 305. Product is a little fiddly to install - one of the magnets has to be zip-tied or stuck to the back of one crank, and the other has to go onto a rear wheel spoke. Instructions are not clear on whether the spoke magnet is required, but it could be a problem for those with solid/few spoke wheels. Spoke magnet also does not fit well - it's designed to fit best where two spokes cross, but on my (fairly standard) MTB rear wheel, this would mean the main unit not being next to the crank. For testing whether magnets are aligned, note that the led 'flash' is hard to see in bright daylight. The case is perfect for the TomTom v3 - the colour is stunning and it looks very sleek. Also, delivery was excellent - I ordered the case in the morning and it arrived in the evening on the same day!!!
